Decent Hotel

Location is good if you want to be near the Newport and Greenvale wineries. The decor is average as well as the bedding. The walls were so thin, I could hear everyone from next door and since it's a two floor hotel, I could hear people from the floor above. Breakfast although free only included white bread, some muffins, cereal and milk.

King size bed really two twins

My fiancee and I spend a night at this awful place for the Newport marathon. First of all the lady at the desk was rude to us. The room they put us in was in the very top corner of the hotel. We were put in the annex of the hotel used for overflow and I could tell there was a lot of rooms on the second and first floors not occupied. Getting to the room we had to go up three flights of stairs to a very small hall way that was poorly light and cleaned. Inside our room it smelled like urine. We found out when we walked in the bathroom that some one urinated on the floor and wall. The walls and windows were stained with who knows what. And the bed that was suppose to be a king was really two twins just pushed together with out the one of the spacer things to make the beds complete. We also found red glitter everywhere in the room and in the hall. The only other people put in the rooms up there was a group of girls around our age of 23. Needless to say I was not happy being treated like that. Just because I am young does not mean I should be stowed away. The only good thing about this place was it was very close to the start finish line of the marathon.

Dining tip: Short drive from hotel

There is a nice place to eat about a half mile to a mile. Called the KJ's Pub & Restaurant. Upstairs had four huge fish tanks of exotic fish, ocean few and very good prizes. I would suggest the calamari it was nice and spicy.

Good for the Money

I was surprised that the room was larger than expected. It was 1 Living room area with a couch, desk, microwave, fridge and sink and then the bedroom with a king bed and tiny TV. The bathroom was up to date. The room was clean. I was very happy with it for the cost.

Nice Place

I found the room to be very comfortable. It was very clean with plenty of towels and nicely put together. it was a large room...and the ac worked great.. I was a little upset with the fact there is no elevator. I was on the second floor so it wasn't bad. Still It's really something they should add..It would also have been nice if they would have offered to have someone bring up our luggage...They have a computer available with a printer and paper set up ..which came in handy..the continental breakfast was nice...but they ran out of cereal to early.. each day...Over all for the price in the area..it was great and I would stay again..but i'd insist on a ground floor room only...One minor item for me...You can hear the doors close from the other guest or the shower run...living in an apartment building as I do ..these things don't bother me..but to some it might be a little bit of a put off..Builder could have put some sound proofing in

Ramada disaster

I was in Newport for a wedding and didn't want to pay $600. a day for the weekend at a fancy lodging. The Ramada was cheaper but not worth what we paid for the weekend. Hotel staff didn't have a clue what rooms were ready at checkin and sent us to a room where beds and mattresses were strewn all over. Went back to registration desk and they told me no other rooms were available for the type that I had purchased, even though the room was confirmed. Finally another employee came over and found us a comparable room. While waiting for a new room I noticed that the same thing was happening to other guests arriving including some family members. Guests would be sent to rooms only to find they were not prepared. Cracks in the bathroom floor. Really old looking furniture. TV was about 14" wide. We just wanted to get in and out of the room as fast as we could. Friends went to the motel restaurant, the Portofino, and thought the burgers were fabulous. Cannot recommend to anyone at all.

Shopping tip: Short drive from hotel

Newport had many shops that were surprisingly inexpensive. The mansion visits were great and informative. If you're having a wedding reception, then Ocean Cliffs is the place to do it. A1

Surprisingly nice

Went down for an overnight in Newport and because I booked late this was one of the few places with availability. While the rates were outrageous ($213/night for what was reportedly a 2-star hotel on various review sites), the hotel was surprisingly nice. Large room with 2 king beds, large bathroom, clean surroundings, pleasant staff. It's a bit dull decor-wise, but a good place to crash. They do offer a shuttle service ($8/day) into town but it takes forever and the driver is really cranky so opt for a car service or taxi instead.

one double bed room

The room was clean with an excellent coffee maker. There was no refrigerator hair dryer or microwave. The walls are thin and you could hear everything happening in the rooms next door. I picked a room with one double bed hoping it would have more open space. This room had a narrow corridor leading to just enough space to hold a double bed and a table.
