Red Roof Inn Wilkes Barre Arena

Location to Casino great, Close to restaurants and shopping , /Sears, Walmart, Macys, food like "Olive Garden Long John Silvers, Chilis. Room was a little chili unitl we called front desk to ask about heat it was cold this past weekend. Would revisit, price was good missed my usual free breakfast at Wyndham properties, they had free coffee in the lobby.t

I tend to travel a lot for work, and have stayed in this chain many times, although this was my first stay in Wilkes Barre. Check in was normal, not super friendly but not outright rude. I was put in a smoking room, and fighting off pnemonia it was extremely tough to breathe with the smell. I kept the room only because they didn't have any others on the first floor. I didn't have any other problems until the next morning. Hop in the shower, close the curtain and realize that the interior part of the shower curtain is covered in mold. Take pictures and bring it to the front desk at check out where I am told I should have mentioned it the previous night. Can't speak for anyone else, but I am not in the habit of going into the shower and closing the curtain until I'm going to take a shower. Manager offers to take 50% off the bill. I take it, but they are having issues refunding, and it will take some time. Having had many with this chain I tried to go easy on them. I tell them I'll be in the area again later in the week, just book me in a first floor non smoking room and take 50% off that bill. They say OK- Check in couple days later; front desk person checks me in tells me I do have 50% off but can't tell me what it will come to? The room is fine- clean with no mold, check out the next morning. Later the next day I look at my credit card statement to find that I paid full price for the room. Overall this could have been a nice place, but the rudeness and incompitence of the staff ruined this hotel for me.

Could use a better sign at the entrance. Cannot see the motel from the road. Once you find it, it is nice.

Should have spent a few more dollars and stayed elsewhere. It wasn't that cheap, $72 and what a disappontment. The carpet in the elevator was sooo dirty and smelly we had to hold our breath. There was no cleaning it, it needed to be ripped out and replaced. The concrete walkway and landings needed to be steam blasted, looked liked spilled food and drink, I was surprised not to see little critters scampering by. In all fairness the room was clean tho quite worn. The sheets should have been replaced months ago as they were well worn and thin, the pillows were lumpy with foam rubber stuffing and lastly the mattress was soft with no support from what I can only guess was many years of use. What no breakfast either?? Coffee in the lobby only?? I never even considered another Red Roof Inn again on my trip.

I enjoyed vewing a fireworks display from the balcony.

Good value for money. Slept well.Staff were not very co-operative but room was good.

The room was clean enough, but lacking in things I was expecting. Basic rooms lack microwave and fridge - no problem if you can go to the lobby, I thought. Except there's no microwave even in the lobby, no continental breakfast. And I came into town for a job interview - finding that there was no iron or ironing board when I checked in late in the evening was very upsetting. It was cold outside, and I was told "Oh, there's an elevator to your third floor room at the end of the row." No, there are stairs at the end of the row where I parked; there's an elevator halfway down the row, which I found the next morning on the way to check out. I'll be staying in this area next week, but I won't be staying at this hotel again.

Overall room cleanliness was OK for us, but at check-out, overheard a patron complaining about their room. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Our only complaint is that the beds have been used hard. They are lumpy and slant one way or the other. New mattresses would be a great help

Can't see the sign for the hotel from Hwy 315. It's hidden behind a tree... Otherwise, the hotel is a good deal for an inexpensive place to crash on a road trip.
