Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites PITTSBURGH WEST MIFFLIN

Only spent two nights here, was pretty clean and neat and staff membrs were very nice and helpful. Price was a litte high in my opinion for what you got but not too out of the ordinary for the area.

Would have like to have seen nicer amenities for the price. First room stank like cigarettes, although it was labeled non-smoking. Receptionist was very friendly and changed our room right away. Sofa was uncomfortable, and bed linens smelled strongly of commercial grade detergent. Elevator had stron fast food odor. Aside from a 7-eleven, not much in walking distance.

Hotel is right off main road with little to do/eat walking distance, but near lots of food chains. Lobby cute and renovated, remainder of hotel decent but worn. Stayed here overnight and was fine for that. Area is pretty pricey for hotels, but thought for the price should have been a bit nicer. Breakfast is included, but I slept through it. Roomate said person taking care of breakfast area was noisy and talking over TV a lot--not professional. Night check in (8:30pm) desk clerk (only one) was off doing errands and had to wait for him (there was a sign). Very pleasant when he returned. In sum, as a wayside hotel looking for overnight stay this is fine...but nothing fancy.

I stayed here over the Labor Day 2011 weekend (Friday-Monday). The first night was fine. The room was actually nice and comfortable. The next day our room was never cleaned. We had to ask for clean towels because of this and they ASSUMED that we didn't want the room cleaned because we didn't ask for them to do so. I thought that was a daily occurence, but evidently not at this location. In addition, it took some time to get the clean towels because they could not spare any due to a broken dryer. After that first day, our room was never cleaned again and we had to continue to ask for towels. When going down to the front desk to report this issue, they gave an excuse and said their cleaning team was gone for the day. Only one person remained, so we could not get service. Ther person at the front desk began to get an attitude when we were trying to explain what was happening, so I had to just walk away before it got heated.

The services and conditions are pretty good. It was a challenge to drive to this hotel from interstate highways.

We showed up at our hotel and checked the bathroom. The shower floor was filthy and there was a large black spot on the bed. The shower could have been fixed by just running it, however the sheet needed the attention of the front desk. We called the front desk and were told that they didn't have any housekeeping at the moment and could upgrade us to a suite. We go down to the front desk and get the key to "our" new room. We walk back upstairs, open the room and oh look! theres someone already in the bed. We then go down to the front desk and tell them this and they insist that there isn't anyone in the room.............. We then get another room that was "recently cleaned". It was sufficient other than again the shower being filthy. Also, the coffee pot was still half full and had grounds in it, but there was no way in h*** that we were going to have coffee in any of the rooms we were given. The next morning we talk to the front desk and are told that there currently isn't a housekeeping manager and they are planning on replacing a large chunk of the housekeeping staff. I can only assume that a lot of them know the end is nigh and have stopped caring. Also, there currently is not a general manager for the hotel and it is being 'over seen' (I think over looked is more appropriate) by the president of the company. Long story short don't stay here if you can help it. The staff are incompetent.

Nice staff, quiet, well kept up and clean (mostly - there was something sticky on bathroom floor that was not visible). Very near shopping and restaurants.
