Family gathering

Hotel staff were very accommodating to our family. Rooms were more comfortable than expected. The microwave & refrigerator was a bonus. Our floor was very quiet Parking lot in back of the hotel was bigger than expected for a average size hotel. We had lunch & dinner with nearby family. Breakfast was included , it was adequate & basic fare for us. The University Grille seem popular with many people in the community. The coffee bar was another surprising addition to this hotel . Overall stay was short, but would use this hotel again when we visit with family again.

Great weekend getaway

The hotel was very clean. The employees were so nice and always happy. The food at the University Grille was amazing. We were expecting typical grill food, not gourmet. We were very impressed. The rooms were great with pretty views.

Disappointing

this is my 2nd stay here, this time, not too great, the tub didn't drain, the toilet needed extra flushes and the towels were like cardboard. For the price, there should be at least an extra sliver of soap, but the bed was confortable... still a good location and went for my son's graduation so won't be back for awhile :(

Old time charm

I was in Shippensburg while attending Corvettes at Carlisle and stayed here for the first time. This is a wonderful old style hotel with many nice amenities, staff was very proficient and accommodating. My room was clean although my window view was limited due to its location but I still enjoyed my visit. The bar lounge area was my only area of mild displeasure, they try to be a bit too hi fi for me and that is how I found Knutes, a delightful little bar across the street. I hope to return next year and enjoy the small town ambience of this delightful southeast PA area again.

Right Near Shippensburg University

We stayed at the hotel after dropping our son off at Shippensburg University. The Hotel is in walking distance to the University and most of the restaurants on King Street which is the main street through town. The hotel is nicely decorated and has more of a city hotel feel than the chain hotels. The Continental breakfast was served in the onsite restaurant and was pretty good. The room was clean, a good size, and included a mini-fridge and microwave. Considering the rate was less than the other major hotel in town when we stayed, it is an excellent value. The only negatives we experienced were the lack of a pool, which our younger kids would have liked, and minimal complementary toiletries. The maid in the hall was happy to give us some more soap and shampoo, which is all that is provided. Overall, it was a very nice experience and we will book again for Parent's Weekend at Ship.

The Shipwreck Tavern on King Street looks a bit like a dive bar from the outside, but there is a separate dining area and outside seating. The food was good and well priced. Also, $5.00 Beer pitchers the day we went.

Weekend visit with college student

Perfect place to stay when visiting students at Ship U. On a nice day it's a perfect walk to campus. Staff was very friendly. On sight dining, The University grill, has good food. The only low mark in our stay was the one tiny bottle of shampoo & one bar soap.

Nice change from the "chains"

Picked this place for a one nighter while on a road trip based on Trip Advisors reviews. I was not completely disappointed but there were a few problems. The pros: very nice decor, feels like a boutique hotel in a big city; great restaurant and bar; good value. The sight of Amish horsecarts zooming past the hotel during a Sunday night dinner was a treat; friendly bartender and waitstaff, but the place was very quiet. The cons: street-side rooms can get noisy, ask for one in the back; this is a small town, the restaurant closes early on Sunday; desk staff not well informed about details such as the non-existent, but promised lotion in the bathroom ( I mean, really, a skinny bar of soap and a vial of shampoo is all there is?); some rooms have connecting doors. If you are placed next one you will hear conversations and TV noise through it, as I did; the ventilation motor in the bathroom thrums along loudly like a diesel submarine 24/7. I had to close the bathroom door to avoid it. Overall, this place deserves your patronage.Just choose your room wisely and you will be pleasantly rewarded with a quaint experience.

A great place to stay

Nestled in the heart of Shippensburg we were greeted by personable staff from the front desk to the maids. There is a restaurant on site though we did not try it. The rooms were clean and the AC worked very well (it was 102 that weekend outside). They also had free WiFi which was great for my step-daughter. The only things that you could criticize was the continental breakfast (apart from the fresh waffles) were a bit stale and there is no pool on premises. Other than those two things it was a great experience and I look forward to returning there next year!

Alfredo's on Baltimore Road about two miles away served copious amounts of food at a reasonable price. My pasta carbonara was quite good.

Nice Place to Stay

This hotel is in a cute little town. It was very clean and nicely kept. The food in the hotel restaurant was great and included an outdoor eating area if desired. The only thing that was missing was a pool. We stayed there during an event at the Carlisle Fairgrounds which was only about 20 minutes away. It was a great value.
