The location was perfect. Staff very friendly, helpful and the breakfast was surprisingly great! My brother stayed with me the first night and he was even impressed with the food! The room was a litle musty at first, but when the heat/air kicked in, it was fine. VERY quiet at night also. I thought I'd get the traffic noise, but nothing. God forbid should I need to head back to Scranton for a hospital visit, I would definately stay here again. Having the grocery store across the street and gas station next door was also a bonus!

Basic stay

Our stay at this hotel was very brief and most needs were met. It is very conveniently located to RT 81 and there are many shops within walking distance. Staff was friendly but not overly accommodating. The room was clean and had all advertised amenities(tv, fridge, microwave). However, the picture on the Tv was incredibly dark and the cable was pretty limited in channels. Also, I found the pillows on the bed to be very small. Morning breakfast was nothing special but included fresh fruit and a waffle maker. Overall stay was pleasant but nothing special.

It's OK

For its price, it doesn't get any better. Especially when you only have two expensive hotel at the same city (Hilton, Radisson), the Clarion is the best choice if you are looking to save some money.

Go Somewhere Else

We stayed at this hotel because we received a discounted rate because my husband had eye surgery down the street. The staff is very courteous and helpful but the room left a lot to be desired. There are no phone books or local attraction guides in the room to point us toward any kind of restaurants or local points of interest. There is not even a menu for the hotel restaurant. When I called the front desk (on a phone that barely worked), I was told that if I wanted a menu, I would have to come down and they would photo copy one for me. Why not do this in the first place so guests are not inconvenienced, especially if they are recovering from eye surgery?? Plus, I had to reset the TV myself when we arrived and we only received a few channels (no biggie) and there is something that resembled dried blood on the wall near the trash can in the bathroom. Not the greatest place but I guess it's what we get for the price. One plus is that they have a hotel bar to drink away the memories of this stay.

depressing

for a hotel with a 3-star rating it was depressing to walk in to find a drab, dingy, outdated and vaguely unclean facility....i paid $89/night for a king room, the size of which was good, but everything else was a disappointment....if i had paid $45 for this stay i would have expected about what i got...this hotel is not comparable in any regard with the other 3-star rated hotel in the area in which i have also stayed...

Dining tip: In Hotel

what passes for "hot breakfast" was not very interesting or very good...the best thing is that there were fresh oranges and apples available (but not bananas or other fruit)..the bread was of the "wonder" variety and the rest of the food was unappetizing and unappealingly laid out...the staff was not up to 3-star service....if the b/fast buffet were not included, i would have skipped it....

Find a different place! Soo many choices

We were traveling from a family reunion in western PA back home to NH so Scranton was the 1/2 way to stop and get a few hours rest. We checked in around 8pm and went right up to room to get some sleep. It was BAD. The bed was so hard it felt like sleeping on the floor. The bathroom was GROSS. There were cigarette burns ON the toilet seat and the walls of the tub had mildew that they tried to paint over and was coming back through. We were so done with being in the car we stayed and slept and got out of there first thing in the morning.Breakfast was included but we figured if the rooms were bad there was no way I was eating the food. There are so many other hotels in the area. We will never stay in Scranton again. Wilkes-Barre is the next town over and has a lot more newer hotels with more places to eat around them.
