No Sleep at Scottish Inn
An Absolute Nightmare
The room was dirty, the lighting fixture in the bathroom was cracked, and retaped in several places. The noise from the highway traffic made it impossible to sleep. The staff was rude and dishonest,,,they first told us that all the rooms in the hotel faced the highway,,,and then when we saw the rooms that didnt and asked about them they said "oh the rooms that dont have to be booked months in advance!" Folks,,,please,,,don't go to this hotel...spend the extra 10 or 15 /night and go someplace that is at least reasonably clean and where you will be able to sleep

Noisy, Dirty and Rude---Spend the extra money folks
The room was dirty , the lighting fixtures were cracked and taped together. There was no soap,,,and the trucks roar past all day and even more frequently at night (4 AM-6 AM)..Absolutely impossible to sleep. I asked the front desk if we could have a room facing the back,,,He said none of the rooms faced the back ,,,so we walked to the back and there were several rooms, and then he said " Oh! Those rooms have to be reserved weeks in advance, maybe next time you come you can request those rooms""". We left and went to a motel a mile down the road...same price as this dump,,,it was cleaner, and quieter,,,and didnt smell like curry!!!

Visitor in Amish Country
So Close to Being a Good Value
We recently spent a few days in Amish Country and were surprised at the challenge of finding a good hotel value in the area. With price and location as our biggest priorities, and after reading reviews, we decided to stay at the Scottish Inn Motel. We walked into our room and were pleased with the decor and conveniences of a good size bathroom, microwave, and refrigerator. However, on closer inspection, cleanliness was an issue. There was hair on one pillow, very dirty phone, hair on the sheets of one bed, microwave wasn't very clean, bathroom floor hadn't been mopped (hair and dust on the floor), dirty sock on the floor, and the last visitor's soap was still in the shower. Also, there was no ice machine available (a personal pet peeve especially when temps were reaching the upper 90's). Regrettably, we had so much stuff and were settled into the room before we started to notice all these things. So, it didn't occur to us to ask for another room until it was too late to bother. I would give the hotel another chance and would recommend it only because the price and location would have otherwise made it a great deal. But, I'd also recommend a very close inspection of the room before settling in for the night.

Very Unhappy
I was very unhappy. The hotel was right on the road so we were awake all night with the sound of trucks. When we uncovered the bed the sheets were dirty with hair and blood. We called the desk and they came and changed the sheets.I paid cash and gave the owner 2 $100 dollar bills. He didn't want the older bill because he said once his bank didn't accept them!I had to give him $20's. We paid for 4 days but left after 2 so we could get some sleep. They wouldn't give us a refund. I will never book again without seeing the motel first

Good compared to others in the area.
After finalizing the booking for this room I realized the check-in date was incorrect. I immediately called the hotel and had no problems getting the same room for the correct date, and did not have to pay any additional costs. The location was perfect for our itinerary. Centrally located to the local biblical theater and MANY antique shops we planned to visit. The room was basically a suite at the cost of just a normal room compared to other hotels in the area. There were more amenities than I expected. Aside from the king size bed and jacuzzi that I was aware of there was a seperate sitting area with a couch and coffee table, a mini fridge (inside was not very clean), microwave, coffee pot, table w/2 chairs, and an alarm clock/radio. There was a nice farm view outside two of the windows (and you could even open the windows for fresh air!). This was a quiet room until early morning work traffic (lots of tractor trailer trucks)started. Even so, it was not too disturbing.

Decent place to stay
This hotel was in a great location for us. It's very close to Sight and Sound and Miller's Smorgasbord. The front desk help was very friendly and the room was decent. It is rather close to the road so there is a lot of truck noise. I'm a good sleeper so it really didn't bother me. There is a farmer's field right next to the hotel and another field behind the hotel so the surrounding area is very nice. We watched the fireflies from the bench on the second story balcony after a long day of running around Lancaster.

Miller's Smorgasbord is very good with an excellent selection of food. It is $22.99 for dinner but there are coupons online and in the hotel lobby. We don't like the family style buffets so we both enjoyed the all you can eat, serve yourself meal.
