short vacation experience

the hotel was nice. it was not really centrally located and parking was really annoying and expensive. the staff was ok. The pool was great but gym facility needs help. The rooms were relatively clean but definitely need work.

Nice Hotel

I've lived in the Pittsburgh area my whole life and never stayed at this hotel. I stayed there because we were spending New Years Eve on the Gateway Clipper. It was convenient. The next morning we went on the incline up to Mt. Washington and ate at the Micro Diner (which was also good). Staff at the hotel was great, lobby was nice, it was a relaxing stay!

Nickled and dimed...

I requested a river/city-view room but on arrival, I was charged $30 extra for that. It was probably worth it, though, since I would have been even more annoyed at the hotel without the view to balance it out. The prices of food and beverages, including breakfast, were outrageous. $3.00 for a bottle of pop in a vending machine is unacceptable. In addition, there was no free parking available for guests of the hotel, so we incurred another fee there. There was no microwave in the room, or hairdrier. The room itself was acceptable, but not exactly plush despite the fact that numerous rooms were available elsewhere in town at much lower rates. Overall, it seemed like we were getting nickel-and-dimed throughout our stay. The front desk people were very nice, but the other staff we encountered were indifferent at best. I would most certainly not stay here again.

The Monongahela Incline is just behind the hotel, but even though the Duquesne Incline is a bit further away the views are incredible.

Good, Not Great

Great location, but nothing extraordinary as far as amenities. No hairdryer or continental breakfast and still had to pay for parking. A lot of additional expense on top of an expensive room.

Highly recommend

I came to Pittsburgh for work. The city is extremely difficult to navigate thru if you are unfamiliar with the city (even my GPS had me driving in circles). Luckily everything (lots of restaurants, shops, etc) that I needed was right outside of the hotel and within walking distance. Anything else that was not right outside of the hotel the ladies at the front desk would locate for me. I could not have been happier with my choice to stay here.

Disappointed with room!

This hotel is at a nice location. The women at registration and check out were very nice. The hotel has a nice large area with a nice bar and lounge area. The bar tenders were all very nice and friendly. The room was not very clean. Coke was spilled on the nightstand. There was long hair on the bedspread. There was also hair on the desk. The edge of the toilet paper roll had what looked like feces on it. I was very unhappy with this room.
