Noisy and slow service

There was construction noise in the hotel at 745 am and the hotel had given no indication during booking that they were undergoing renovations

Meh.

Quite dirty and old. The location is decent, but it definitely is needing the renovations.

Will come back for sure!

I stayed here for a conference and was told that I needed to walk for a long distance to get to the convention center. It turned out that walking pass the Smithfield Bridge and downtown was not a bad idea at all. I saw the great rivers and bridges in Pittsburgh and nice people around downtown area while walked for about 20-25 minutes. If I didn't feel like walking, the hotel shuttle was right there. In addition, the bed was extremely comfortable, and room was clean. A lot of good restaurants are right outside the hotel in the Station Square.

Girls weekend getaway

Our check-in was quick. We parked in a parking garage across the street that was very easy to get to. We took the Gateway Clipper to the Pirate Game which was so handy! We needed more towels and coffee, of course, and it was brought to our room shortly after we called. We took taxis after we arrived. The taxi was easy to get at the hotel but not so easy downtown. I would highly recommend this hotel.

Nice Hotel

I've lived in the Pittsburgh area my whole life and never stayed at this hotel. I stayed there because we were spending New Years Eve on the Gateway Clipper. It was convenient. The next morning we went on the incline up to Mt. Washington and ate at the Micro Diner (which was also good). Staff at the hotel was great, lobby was nice, it was a relaxing stay!

Nickled and dimed...

I requested a river/city-view room but on arrival, I was charged $30 extra for that. It was probably worth it, though, since I would have been even more annoyed at the hotel without the view to balance it out. The prices of food and beverages, including breakfast, were outrageous. $3.00 for a bottle of pop in a vending machine is unacceptable. In addition, there was no free parking available for guests of the hotel, so we incurred another fee there. There was no microwave in the room, or hairdrier. The room itself was acceptable, but not exactly plush despite the fact that numerous rooms were available elsewhere in town at much lower rates. Overall, it seemed like we were getting nickel-and-dimed throughout our stay. The front desk people were very nice, but the other staff we encountered were indifferent at best. I would most certainly not stay here again.

Sightseeing tip: Short walk from hotel

The Monongahela Incline is just behind the hotel, but even though the Duquesne Incline is a bit further away the views are incredible.
