Medical Situation

My grandmother was transferred to a local area hospital, and for a last minute booking this place was great. It had a pool for our nieces which kept them busy. The staff was great with directions to and from the hospital. Overall it was a great experience while dealing with life's curveballs.

Unexpected fees

Be prepared to pay for parking and a rude staff member named Dave. When I arrived at the hotel I discovered they force your to pay a $15 fee per night to park in their parking garage and there is no on street parking or free parking made available near this location. While asking about this unadvertised expense the desk staff member a man named Dave proceeded to tell me "this is Pittsburgh we don't offer free parking" very rudely. The room was well kept and clean but I will not be returning due to rudeness of staff and unadvertised fees.

Entertainment tip: Short drive from hotel

If you are attempting to go to the Consol Energy Center be prepared for a ride through the Pittsburgh ghettos. I recommend not wearing red/blue/yellow as the quickest route takes you through the gang tour of Pittsburgh.

Potential College Visit

Price-wise, the hotel was a great value. We were 3 miles from the college yet saved $50-$80 from hotels closer. It was worth the drive. My mapquest had us arriving through the parking entrance which was just an elevator and not clearly mapped. Very underwhelming and a bit scary. However, when we arrived at concierge desk, both the service and hotel was impressive. Had a kitchenette with real plates and glasses for our use and free microwave popcorn and coffee. They seemed to think of everything. Sadly though, the breakfast - though free - was not great. My room coffee was much better than the breakfast one and the conveyor belt type toaster was up too high and burned everything. Overall though, I was very impressed and will definitely go there again. I recommend it.

Entertainment tip: Short drive from hotel

We found an AMAZING Vietnamese restaurant called Tram's Kitchen. It was just a quick drive from our hotel but I would be willing to drive an hour for their food. They had the best eggrolls that I have ever had and we had to drive back before leaving town to buy 8 more for the road and to bring home. Additionally, we had chicken vermicelli, chicken fried rice and chicken curry. Everything was the best! If near Pittsburgh, you have to visit Tram's kitchen. It does not have ambience but the food was amazing. Please try it!

Clean hotel with great perks close to everything

We were pleasantly pleased with this hotel. It is located 2 miles outside of the city, but its in a nice area. The hotel staff was very friendly. The room was clean and the meals included were really good. We had a full breakfast in the morning with eggs, sausage, and yogurt and in the evening we had Philly Cheesteak sandwiches. We will definitely go back!

Great location and services

I stay at this hotel because of its close proximity and shuttle service to the University of Pittsburgh but it is much more than that - an excellent, clean, well serviced hotel with great amenities, large and pleasant rooms, great breakfast and other food services, a lovely pool and jacuzzi, and friendly, helpful staff.
