Wonderful Hotel, with Excellent Staff
I've stayed at hundreds of Hotels, and this was right at the top. The Hotel interior looked Brand New, and the Staff was great. Our room was very up to date and everything was clean. For a great price....you get a room with a work space, full kitchen, Living space, nice bedroom and plenty of space in the bathroom.

close to Forbes ave and 5th ave restaurants and shops..a bit closer to Carnegie than to Pitt. If you walk, realize that the hotel is on top of a decent hill.

Not a great hotel
Woke up at 5:20 am for my big presentation to 150 people to find no electricity and no hot water. Hotel staff quick to provide me with ONE flashlight, but had no back up plan for this power outage. Washed hair sitting on bathroom floor hanging head over tub, with COLD water. Admittedly upset, but knowing it was not their fault, asked them please to call other Marriott properties in area to arrange for me to come over and blow dry my hair. THANKFULLY, power came on within 15 minutes, however, they seemed completely unprepared for how to handle this situation. [...]

Hotel not in good condition
This hotel was not up to expected Residence Inn standards. The property needs a lot of work. It was clean enough but not in very good condition. Definitely not worth the $$.

Excellent service and excellent staff
I discovered I booked at the Marriott one mile from the hospital my husband was having surgery performed. [...] we had an excellent stay at the Residance Inn Marriott rather than the Courtyard Marriott in Pittsburgh.

Last minute accomodations
I have stayed at this Residence Inn and it always lives up to expectations. I was on very tight schedules and didnot have a chance to experience the free breakfast. The room was nicely appointed and clean. I highly recommend it.

Nice, clean rooms
We stayed for nearly a week while getting our daughter settled into her dorm at Carnegie Mellon. We wanted a large room to store all of our purchases for her dorm room. I like Marriott properties because they are clean and friendly. This Residence Inn is no exception. The room is large and clean. It has a complete kitchen with full size appliances and dishes. The room appeared to have been recently remodeled, except for the televisions which did not have flat screens. Room was very quiet. Daily breakfast was ample and sufficient. Scrambled eggs, potatos, sausage, cereal, cut fresh (not canned) fruit, make your own waffles in a waffle iron, donuts, bagels, and milk/juice/coffee. We attended two evening receptions, and had hamburger and hot dogs both times. There is a pool and exercise room, but I did not use them. Now the not so good. The location is dreary. There is nothing near the hotel except for empty buildings. No stores, no fast food restaurants (only one Italian restaurant across the street), no people walking around. It is somewhat scary at night on the dark streets. To be fair, University of Pittsburgh and eating places are only a few blocks away, but I would rather drive than walk to those places.

Not The Best But Good
The hotel was nice but it not located next to anything of interest. Not the mention the numerous hills and narrow passages you have to go throught to get in and out of the area. I also had to experience a hotel lobby worker who was apparantly having a bad day. The lobby is not on the bottom floor and their is no sign next to the desk in what appears to be the lobby to explain this fact to you. The hotel says that the rooms have queen sized beds...if you are a little person.
