Great location, nice rooms
Great hotel if you're looking to stay in the east end of Pittsburgh / Shadyside area. Rooms are great, staff is helpful, and they have a nice gym / pool. Conveniently walkable to restaurants and shopping on ellsworth or walnut st. only gripe is the "valet only" parking - you have to drive everywhere in Pittsburgh, and it would be nice to be able to just grab your car from the lot.

3 star hotel at 4 - 5 star prices
I was disappointed because I had to pay so much to stay at this particular hotel. It is the location that allows them to charge so much for an ordinary hotel. There are no other nice hotels in that particular area of Pittsburgh. the good things were that the staff was very nice and the dinner i ate there was actually delicious at a very good price in their restaurant which they should publicize more. Money is difficult to come by these days and that is why it was disturbing to have to pay so much.

I've alwyas Marriott, because everthing in hotel and room is updated and modern. 5 star, fyi - you pay what you get! and Marriott you give you more than what you need!

Nicole Travels Too Much
Great for Business
I was in Pittsburgh for business, and the Courtyard by Marriott in Shadyside perfectly fit my needs. It's within walking distance of a diner (yummy 24 hour breakfast), a Boston Market (for cheaper eats) and a fancy delicious restaurant (Toast!, for a treat). With a Starbucks right in the hotel, all my eating needs were met. The hotel itself was clean and quiet, and I was very happy with my stay.

some good some bad
Location was good for walking into shadyside...the valet parking was a total pain! Every time you even wanted to go to your car you needed to go to the valet! Didn't care for the very thin, rough towels,lack of bath products (no body cream) and no free breakfast! For the price--not alot of value!

Great location, reasonable value
Shadyside restaurant/shopping district within easy walk. Starbucks in hotel; Panera a stone's throw away; plus hotel restaurant provide several breakfast options. In-room fridge and Giant/Eagle grocery only 3 blocks away means inexpensive OJ, milk, etc. for in-room breakfast and snacks. Valet parking ONLY at $18/day was total surprise, added to cost, and decreased overall value. Biggest complaint: the individual room heating/AC system. It reminds me of a unit in an old Holiday Inn - very noisy, and the air blows in your face when you sit at the desk.

Parking Ripoff
I was shocked to find that there was mandatory valet parking to the tune of $17.88 per day! That was a ridiculously huge percentage of the cost of the entire room. There was absolutely no other option for the car.
