Candlewood Suites PITTSBURGH-AIRPORT

You are on your own at Candlewood Suites. Granted you are at a location that all the rooms are the size of a small suite, unless you stay there for an extended time they do not clean your room. Nothing like going to a hotel room and the room is clean and the bed is made!

From the moment I walked into the lobby the staff were friendly, courteous, and helpful. The room (a studio suite) exceeded my expectations because not only was it clean and have everything I needed (including a comfortable bed), it was also spacious and open. The price was acceptable as the stay was perfect, and this is from a penny pincher who always likes to pay less. I think about the only think that could possibly make for a better value or stay would be an indoor pool but even without that cannot fault anything about my stay. Kudos to management and staff!!

The location of the hotel is very nice. It's very close to the Mall at Robinson as well as a couple of shopping centers, and only about 10 miles from downtown Pittsburgh. On the downside there was no continental breakfast, there was no indication on the site that they would have it so I can't fault them for this, but I generally like hotels having the courtesy to provide one meal, albeit a small one, before the customers leave. There were also several small industrial fans stationed in the hall of one wing of the hotel, not sure why but they made for an annoyance. I'm glad we didn't stay in that wing or the fans may have made it difficult to sleep. The hallways were extremely hot so that may have been the reasoning for the fans, however the room temperature seemed to remain unaffected, so that was only a small inconvenience. Overall, the good and the bad cancelled each other out so it was an average hotel at slightly above average price. I would not pay over 100 for a room here, I would prefer going to the Microtel next door for half the price.

After staying in on of the other hotels in the area, for about the same price, I was taken aback by the discrepancy in value. Compared to the other accommodations, I was very disappointed in the cleanliness, the size of the room, and the lack of amenities that are typically provided by hotel chains. We also didn't have hot water on our last day there and were not given an explanation or an apology or an offer of refund or discount. We have also been trying to contact the chain for some manner of closure without success. Without a doubt, this has been, for the price, the most disappointing hotel stay that I have ever experienced.

We found the room clean and everything worked. It was only a basic average room but well kept. Sufficient for what we needed as an over night stay.

The room was clean and everything in good working order, but it was on the bare bones side of being comfortable. We stayed just over night and so didn't spend much time in the room, so not a bad place for the price, One thing we missed though was getting a continental breakfast. They had little boxes of cereal you could buy but nothing much else.

Facility and staff were fine. Could not get through on room phone to front desk and had to go desk. Wi-fi worked good in room. Good location within major shopping and easy 5 minutes to airport.

This hotel has minimal and out-dated amenities and the walls are like paper. I could hear people walking and making noise in other rooms and couldn't sleep. The front desk wasn't very helpful in their attitude. The refrigerator didn't work. The hall carpets weren't clean and it smelled smoky in the hallways. My room wasn't labeled "non-smoking" and they claimed the sign had fallen off. The rooms are only cleaned weekly. The exercise room was fine. It was the worst hotel I've ever stayed in.

I was very impressed with the Candlewood Suites - Pittsburgh Airport. The room was spotless and so was the bathroom. The bed was extremely comfortable. I had a great desk and a choice of three chairs. Everything was in excellant condition and well maintained. The kitchenette was terrific -- I was sad that I could not have used it to more!!!

Spent one night on my way to Seattle, great experience. Was very quiet on a Wednesday night. Loved the stuff avaiable in the honor store area, and watched a free DVD. The room would be a top choice for someone spending several days, has a kitchen with amenities (even a small kettle). I was not all that enamored with the way the heat-AC functioned, and the bed was not accessable on both sides (one side against the wall). All-in-all a good experience, and I will look for this motel again.
