Philly Flava

Rooms were very clean & good sized. We didn't spend too much time in the room, but when we did it was relaxing and we read and watched TV.

Entertainment tip: Short drive from hotel

Sign up for the Big Bus Tours because you can get on & off at over 15 different stops which saves on walking & cabs. The Eastern State Penitentiary was a lot of fun. I believe it was stop #9 on the bus route.

Wonderful place to stay for walking around to historic destinations - very close to all major ones. We went for a graduation, but also did a walking tour. Tour buses of all kinds were easily available. Hotel restaurant was good, but a tad on the pricey side. Service was good. Wi-fi is available.

Money-saving tip: Short walk from hotel

Walk a short distance and save money on dining out. There are lots of mom-and-pop restaurants that are cheaper by far than the hotel restaurant - and very good too! If you drive, be prepared for parking fees downtown - $9.00 to $13.00 for a couple of hours.

Holiday Inn Historic District

Hotel was really nice. The service was good, the beds were comfortable, and the bathrooms were nice as well. The one thing that is really awful is the fact that the hotel is located next to a fire house, so sirens are something you will hear at all hours of the night.

A Great Place, A Good Location

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the Holiday Inn, Historic District. The room was very nice and clean. The hotel was located a little out of the way of the hustle and bustle but a reasonable walk or short subway ride to the downtown area. The staff was super helpful with directions and with assistance. The only negatives were that the hotel's restaurant was only so-so and there weren't a lot of restaurant choices nearby.

Sightseeing tip: Long walk from hotel

The Reading Terminal Market on 12th and Arch is a real treat! It is a large indoor facility with many food stands serving such things as Thai and Indian cuisine, Italian and vegetarian food, deli sandwiches, cheeses, meats, fresh seafood, fresh produce, and gourmet chocolates and coffees.

We had two rooms booked through [...] but when we got there we couldn't have them next to eachother. We wanted to check out late but the staff said no. Everything that we asked was denied. Plus you have to pay $22 for parking per night, so everything adds up.
