Good city trip

The rooms were very clean though not particularly spacious. The breakfast is NOT worth $16, go to one of the many local restaurants instead (we liked Fork:etc on Market St). It's a city hotel so parking is not complimentary and pricey too. Staff were friendly and very helpful. I left something behind, the night manager found it for me and shipped it to my house. He called me within 15 mins of my call to say he'd found it. Great place to be to get to the mint, liberty bell etc before the crowds. If you aren't one of the first there the lines do get long. Big Bus Co run a great hop on hop off service that we used often and works well to get everywhere else.

Fork:etc on Market St for breakfast and lunch - fresh baked things, interesting salads/sandwiches. Triumph brew pub on Chestnut St has fabulous beers and great food.

Perfect Location

I had a great stay here. It was nice to walk right out of the hotel and be in the heart of the Old City. Independence Hall, Liberty Bell, Betsy Ross's house all just a couple of blocks away. As well as the very convenient PHLASH Shuttle which runs right thru the heart of Center City and up to the Incredible Art museums (DO NOT MISS THE BARNES)

Good location

Convenient and clean hotel in walking distance from the historic center. The hotel is nice for families and anyone who is not planning on spending any time in the hotel. The amenities are quite basic, and if the prices are high, I would look elsewhere. The lobby/bar area is very unwelcoming and unattractive. I wouldn't normally care about a hotel bar, but if you are travelling with a group who wishes to visit or relax in the lobby, this is definitely not your place. There is also a pool on the roof-top. Like most hotels, the pool is very basic and was filled with kids.

Perfect location, loved it!

This is an old style Holiday inn right in the Historic District of "Old Philly". The staff was friendly and attentive when I had interactions with them. The 8th floor outdoor pool was nice and had great views of the city! The only complaint was the lack of a free breakfast and the cost of eating at the restaurant in the hotel. We did not eat there not only because of the price, but because of all the great places to eat in the city! I would recommend it this hotel to others. NOTE: this is an old hotel and the look is a little dated, so if you have an issue with that then go to the Ritz and pay 400.00 + a night.

Sightseeing tip: Short drive from hotel

Go to 9th street and Christian which is the center of the Market area. This area is really cool if you like old school markets. There are also a bunch of small little eating spots too. When your there grab a slice of cheese pizza from Lombardo's right on the corner of 9th and Christian.

Old City Philly

The staff were all friendly and helpful in the check in and check out process. Located right in Old city we were able to walk to Penns Landing and Market Street from the hotel and check out the bars and nightlife.

Great location and friendly staff

We stayed here for 4 weekday nights and would recommend the hotel to others. We were able to check in early as well as check-out late. The front lobby staff were friendly and helpful. The rooms were standard and clean. We were near the elevator so there was occasionally foot traffic noise but nothing that woke us up during the night. Walls were a little thin and I could hear the room next door's wake-up call. The location of this hotel was excellent for seeing the sights. Parking was onsite with in and out privileges at $25/day. The restaurant was very slow for breakfast and took 25 minutes for oatmeal. We only ate there once.

Senior trip

I took my son to Philadelphia for Mother/Son Senior trip before he leaves for college. It was such a wonderful trip! Besides the great company, the location is perfect! The hotel is close to everything you want to see and close to the transportaton you need to see things farther away. The front desk staff and bell staff are wonderful. The room was comfortable for our needs. The only negative is that the room didn't have a fridge in it. That is a huge bummer considering all of the great food you are surrounded by!

Declining

Recently stayed for 4th time and noticed a significant decline in the staff. Front desk staff at checkin acted as if they were doing me a favor, breakfast service took over 90 minutes and one of the two waitresses was rudely instructing diners to move tables so she wouldn't have to walk as far. Past stays as recent as October '11 were much better, not sure what happened but hope they raise the standards to previous levels.
