The Wyndham Hotel Philadelphia creates a stark contrast against its Historic District setting, cutting a sleek urban figure within the old world charm of its surroundings. The hotel was given a focused facelift in 2014, and now ivory and stone décor is set against uncluttered dark wood furnishings. Despite its laidback name, the on-site Coins Restaurant and Pub is equally chic, with its urban lanterns and contemporary American cuisine. If you prefer to enjoy your meals alone, the extensive menu can be ordered from as a room service option. Get in a good workout at the on-site fitness center, or settle in for a day of watery entertainment at the rooftop pool.

Neighborhood
The Wyndham Hotel Philadelphia is buried in the Old City, a few blocks from the Delaware River and the waterfront activity hub of Penn's Landing. It's a neighborhood renowned for its history – at the nearby Independence National Park, visitors can encounter the famous Liberty Bell and Independence Hall, the legendary place where both the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution were signed. Take the Constitutional Walking Tour to explore the area, or catch the subway downtown from 5th Street Station for more 21st century options among the restaurants and stores of Center City.
Hints and tips
Suites toward the south of the hotel are quieter, and for those who enjoy the spookier side of the Historic District, Christ Church's cemetery views are worthwhile.

Water babies are happiest on the seventh floor, which is just beneath the swimming pool.

The good, the bad and the really ugly

Hotel is walking distance to the historic district. Hotel staff were very friendly and accomodating. First room on second floor over the loading dock was very small, asked for a room change the next morning and they moved us to the 6th floor. Nicer room less noise. Had breakfast in the hotel dining room. Waitress was pushing the buffet, lukewarm at best, no variety had to ask for coffee, note, big selling point of buffet was beverage was included. $35.00 for breakfast kinda pricey to me. Parking $22.00 per night not mentioned on the web site.

Holiday Inn - Decent!

This Holiday Inn is located in the heart of the historic part of Philadelphia. I could walk to all the sites within a few blocks. If you're into location this place is perfect and it wasn't too far of a walk from City Center (another good location). The one downside was that the air conditioning units in the rooms had no thermostat to read the temperature which meant they ran non-stop. That's good for keeping the room cool, not good for someone like me who is a very light sleeper and can't leave something that loud going. Other than noise from that and the neighbors who let their doors slam every morning at 7am the hotel was fine. Free internet in the room was nice. The staff was kind. The concierge was limited in knowledge and not super helpful in making recommendations, good for directions. Overall, it served it's purpose - a clean bed, shower, air conditioned room really close to all that I wanted to do and see on my trip.

Took over an hour to check-in

Hotel is in a great location, however it was not convenient. On check in day, I arrived at the hotel at 4pm (check in time) and there was a line to check-in that took up the whole lobby. This hotel was sold out and management only had two people working the front desk during prime check-in time. I finally got into my room around 5:15…it took everyone there over an hour to check in. Although the staff was nice and tried to do the best they could, no special treatment was given for our inconvenience. The rooms were nice, but it is not worth all the waiting…I will not use this hotel again.

Fun in Philly

Great location in the center of the Old City. Within walking distance to many great restaurants and attractions. Our room on the 7th floor was clean and quiet.
