The Sonesta Hotel Philadelphia makes the most of its Center City location, with a rooftop pool looking out over the skyline. In-room video games, movies and extra considerations like quiet-zone floors for working during the week make it a favorite for those in Philly on business. Funky decor in various shades of red signifies the lounge areas, and cityscape prints adorn the bed-heads in the rooms. Cafe Express is handy for grabbing something on the way out of the lobby, but if you've got more time on your hands, Rittenhouse Square eateries are just beyond the hotel steps, whether you're craving a Philly cheesesteak or some English-style pub grub.

Saturday Evening in the City

Had a Club room but it was very small, did not even have a lounge chair. Club lounge was just OK. Very pricey room, not good value. Staff was excellent. Great location.

Good central location

Hotel was decent and staff was very friendly and helpfull. It's an older hotel and althgouth it is now no-smoking, the room smelled of smoke. The bathroom needed updating as wel. The rest was fine.

Ordinary stay

Adequate, older hotel in downtown Philly (I think this area is called Center City.) Within walking distance to many other neighborhoods. Parking is not included--the hotel has an arrangement with the adjoining lot where hotel guests pay $38 per day, with unlimited in and out priveleges; this is more expensive than other lots in the area but probably worth it if you plan on accessing your car frequently, as the other lots will make you pay each time you re-enter. Room was...adequate; window was dirty and fogged up,and there was a huge red stain on the carpet, but otherwise clean. Nice bar/restaurant on ground floor.

Nice location, needs some updating

Nice hotel in great business location. BONUS is that they have relationship with a gym so you can go there rather than their fitness center.

older and dusty

Stayed one night because family came into town and the room was older and dusty with atiny bathroom which isn't a surprise in center city. Paid a high price and didn't expect anything spectacular but I stayed in a much nicer Embassy suites the next night for cheaper. Bottom line it is in a noisy part of the city and if you are just looking for a place to crash then try and get a cheap price for this hotel.

The hotel was nice...nothing special really. Friendly front desk, small bathrooms. Extremely expensive for what it was.

Good placefor sporting & cultural events

Hotel was at a good location for sporting and cultural events. Saw Eric Clapton and Steve Windwood at Wachovia Center, Star Trek and Gallileo exhibits at the Franklin Institute and two interleague games between the Red Sox and Phillies. The baseball park was accessible by subway, and the museum was within walking distance. The only parking option at the hotel was valet parking that we did not need and would have preferred cheaper, non-valet parking. Breakfast buffet was pricey and did not look very appetizing, but a coffee shop in the hotel was a reasonably priced and had delicious egg sandwiches as a breakfast alternative. Once we figured out the traffic flow in the city, the trip was as enjoyable as others taken to the city.

Sightseeing tip: Long walk from hotel

The museums are within walking distance of the hotel. This was our second visit to the Franklin Intitute, and the special exhibit on Star Trek was great. The Gallileo exhibit was informative, but took some digging to get the significance of his contribution to science within the exhibit.

Ordinary hotel with nice location

Hotel was okay...thermostat didn't seem to do anything. Older standard TV. Bed was comfortable.

Good location and value

Booked the Sonesta with a discount code so I was pleased with the value compared to what it would have cost me to stay elsewhere. Front desk staff were accomodating. We required a fridge in our room and got it free of charge (I believe probably because I was a Sonesta member and had stayed at the hotel before). They brought it to our room very quickly. The room is large. TV is dated and the sheets and pillows were scratchy. I didn't find the bed to comfortable at all. But, great value in the city.
