It is steeped in Philadelphias rich international and historical past. We are an Urban Inn located in the midst of Independence National Historical Park in Old City. Our rooms have been decorated with the kind of furnishings that make you feel at home. With only twelve rooms-we are small and unique. Six of our rooms are two room suites. A bit of a surprise ...

The hotel was a bit of a surprise. I like older hotels and I have stayed in many simple places without a lot of frills. There was a window taped with cardboard to keep it closed. The bathroom shower dripped constantly and others that stayed there had toilets that did not work plus other basic problems. It was a good location and the people that worked there were nice. But overall it was really a dump.

never again

Not sure how they charge close to $100 a night for this hotel. I've stayed in hostels that were far better than this facility. Everything seemed broken, old, dirty, dilapitated - just an all around unpleasant place. If you don't have very high standards for cleanliness and comfort (bed was horrible) - then it's a good place because of its location. Otherwise, I would never recommend - ever.

Great location. Run Down Property

Very good location and nice staff. However, hotel is run down. I had to be relocated to a room that had a television with a remote, only to find out that all the remote did was turn the tv on/off....no channel changing. Door to room did not close from the inside...had to ask for help when I was going to bed for the evening. Again, staff was accomodating but the hotel needs renovating. Very small rooms, but that would be acceptable if everything was updated.[...]

Not much of a "bed and breakfast" - you check in at the bar in the 1st floor restaurant and are shown the location of your room - and that is your last contact with the staff. When you leave, you just put your key through a hole in a door. Breakfast is a plastic bag containing a juice box, granola bar, a snack size can of fruit, some peanut butter crackers, and a little packaged snack cake of some type. There is also a small coffee maker with a jar containing some type of coffee - not labeled, tea bags and sugar free hot chocolate mix. The pictures on-line showed how the rooms had been renovated, but ours certainly was not and very much need it! There was even a lamp on the desk that was plugged into an outlet in the bathroom, so the bathroom door couldn't be closed. Lots of visible electrical cords - wonder if the local building/fire inspector has taken a look at it lately. The rooms were very small, which we expected, but it was certainly not a pleasant bed and breakfast - just a very drab hotel. There are plenty of other hotels in the area - with nice rooms, good breakfasts, and reasonable prices.
