Sheraton Philly Society Hill

This is a great hotel, within walking distance to two different sets of restaurant rows. Also along Market St, one can gain access to the underground rails which lead to virtually anywhere within the city, within walking distance from the hotel. This was huge for us because we came into Philly by train. Would definitely consider staying at this Sheraton again. I do have to say the concierge gave us a map, but didn't tell us how close we were to the trains.

Really nice.

The hotel was a really nice suprise. The beds were awesome, the rooms were large, the restaurant and bar and lobby area were real nice, and all of the staff were friendly and helpful. It's a great location too -- for off and on the freeway and for seeing all there is to see in Philadelphia. I would definitely book here again.

Continental Diner is about 3 blocks away at 2nd and Market Street. It was great -- fun cocktails and delicious small plates. Really cool spot.

location, location, location

the Sheraton Society Hill was very well located, near historic sites, Penn's Landing, and in the heart of a fabulous array of restaurants. while the hotel could probably use a minor facelift, the rooms were comfortable and spacious, and the common areas had all the amenities you could want, with restaruant, two bars, and free internet access.

Great location.

The hems had fallen out of the drapes, and the shower curtain rod was sagging. The rooms don't seal (lots of light leaks in under the hallway door) so I wonder what that means in the event of a fire. Everything was nice but I expected better form a Sheraton.

Charming and convenient location!

The location was perfect for walking to all the historic sites and many restaurants. We visited most of the historic sites plus China Town and the Italian Market in South Philly, all very accessible. The lobby was open and welcoming, with many spaces for reading or meeting with people and our room was spotless. The front desk staff was very helpful.

Look for restaurants that have a Happy Hour and order their appetizers, that's a meal in itself. You get greater variety of tastes and it's cheaper and more fun than entrees.

will return

The hotel is located in a great part of town. Lots to do and enjoy, even if just walking around. The staff was very courteous. Our only complaint was that they put us in a room without a window. It was looking into the pool and it was very noisy as we were trying to put our toddler to sleep even past 9 pm. It also had a chlorine smell in our room. However, next time we'll just know to request a different room. I will still return to this hotel.

overall the hotel was good, the rooms were clean, but it needs rennovation- the rooms show age, and they seemed a bit smaller than the norm.

not worth the money

Its true that the hotel is in a great historic location but thats where the amazing qualities end. The entire place is stuffy and overpriced. The accommodations are showing wear & tear, bathroom lighting is cavelike, & the walls are far too thin (especially if you are unfortunate enough to have a door that could make your room into a suite with your neighbor). I have been to Philadelphia twice now. I have stayed at the Le Meridien on Arch and the Sheraton Society Hill. If you're going to spend the $ stay at the Le Meridien instead -- it blows this place out of the water.

Great location and good rooms

We spent the time at this hotel visiting the historic sites, including the Liberty Bell and Independence Hall. This hotel had a good location (~5-6 blocks to these attractions). The room was a good size, but the bathroom was a tad small (and the toilet didn't flush the best). Overall, we really enjoyed our stay and would recommend this hotel to vacationers.

Sightseeing tip: Not Applicable

Bring walking shoes, because it doesn't make sense to drive most anywhere in Center City. If flying in, then don't rent a car because the valet parking fees are kind of high.

christmas at the sheraton

Valet was courteous, very helpful with the many bags on a late Christmas evening. The check-in was longer than usual due to a unhappy guest complaining. A lot of construction was going on that was not made aware to guests prior to arrival. The pool, sauna, hot tub, and restaurants were under construction during our stay. The pool construction was completed but do to being refilled, was extremely cold. The room itself was great. Good floor, good location away from the elevator, quiet (even during the construction), very clean room, did not refill all bathroom sundries, continental breakfast was only fully stocked on the last day.
