Great location but remodeling needed bad
The good - Parking was conveniently located across the street and discounted at 10.50 per day per entry (i.e., no in-and-out privileges without paying again). However, location was so convenient that I didn't need to move my car for the entire 2 day trip. The hotel room was clean and most amenties were adequate. The bad - The comforter felt like sandpaper. The elevator did break down a few times (thankfully, I was only on the 3rd floor). But the most objectionable part of my stay was the water pressure in the shower. Most shower heads are regulated with a flow restricter to product 2.5 gallons per minute. The shower in the room I was staying in barely trickled out of the pipe. It was impossible to use. (This is where use of the 12th Street Gym was an absolutely necessity!)

Had to endure a 5 flight walk
Had to endure a 5 flight walk up because the elevator wasnt working and would not be repaired until after the weekend. Stale donuts for breakfast, generally unhelpful and uncaring staff and borderline decrepit room facilities make for a poor value. Next time I'll spend the extra 25$ a night to stay at the Sheraton a few blocks away.

We will never stay there again...we
We will never stay there again...we arrived and as we were checking in they said...our elevator is broken! We didnt know another hotel in the area so we had to suck it up! Put us on the 6th floor & never offered to take our stuff up! Asked for a late check out and she said 1PM...I said perfect! 12:30 pounding on the door..The guy redely said "Don't you answer your phone?" I said I was in the bathroom brushing my teeth...the guy said "Front desk has been calling you since noon...Check out is at noon!!!" very sternly. I said our phone hasnt rung..he turned away from me and started walking down the hall calling the front desk..Will never stay there again just on principle. They should have contacted everyone! and from what they said it was broke for a bit of time!! Never even offered with our bags.

First time in Philly
Very good location...within walking distance to sites and transportation. Old building, therefore certain items were undersized, such as hallways, door widths. Heater wasn't working or working well and it got chilly (late Sept). Near good casual eateries and is an interesting neighborhood.

Not so bad
I stayed there for two days. There was construction going on when I checked in. My room was cosy, but the carpet needs to be changed right away for the great a downtown hotel. The concierge/deskworker were great and very helpful. Thanks.

Surprisingly good
From the outside I was a little taken aback by Rodeway. It looks like an old house but the hotel was more modern and sleek than the outside facade. The desk clerk was not that friendly when I got there but desk staff the rest of the weekend were great. The room was larger than expected. Comfortable bed. Nice windows. Clean. The bathroom was small but fine. The second day of my stay the hot water was not working. The extremely nice and apologetic desk clerk gave me 10% off for the issue when I checked out. I did not spend much time in the room but I would recommend the hotel for a nice weekend get away to Philly!

Basic & clean, but watch out
Very basic, but clean. Nice 'towel art', good breakfast. Since our room was on the second floor, we used the stairs instead of the elevator. The elevator looked very tiny and old, but it does work.

Long walk from hotel
Historic Philadelphia is about a mile away, the convention center is about 1/4 mile away. We could easily walk it.
