The Omni Group's flagship downtown Philly branch, the Omni Hotel Independence Park Hotel Philadelphia reflects its Society Hill location along with rich history in its plush, old-European decor, grand piano and sparkling chandeliers. The dusky drapes and cozy booths of the Azalea Restaurant compliment the mansion-house feel, and the regional US cuisine ranges from lobster bisque to veal chop. Take an after-dinner dip in the Jacuzzi, or check in for a well-earned massage at the Balance Spa after a long day of historical sight-seeing. If you're on a health-kick, the special Get Fit rooms come with private equipment, and guests can sample the Ideal Living options for more balanced dishes on the hotel's menu.

Not warm and friendly

We reserved a room for three. The room was not set up for a third person and we had to make multiple calls to housekeeping to get bedding. The HVAC wasn't working properly so the room ranged from stifling to freezing. There was a lot of traffic noise, even though we were on an upper floor. Parking at the hotel is very expensive and inconvenient. They do not have a shuttle service. Room service is insanely expensive and was the only option other than bringing in a cooler. I would not choose this hotel again.

Perfect location- lovely hotel

Just spent two days with my children, ages 6 & 12, over their school break. We live nearby in NJ but wanted to stay over for convenience. The location, across from Independence Park, is perfect if you want to walk to the historic sights. The room was spacious and comfortable. The pool and jacuzzi were great- though they seemed to be having a little trouble with the jacuzzi temperature. Room service breakfast was pricey but very good. The staff were friendly and helpful. I appreciated the little, kid friendly touches- like the nighttime cookies & milk. The front desk staff forgot to give my daughter her activity bag at check in but it was no problem for me to go get it a bit later. The only thing I think I'd like them to add is on demand movies in the rooms - fun to relax with after a long walking day. I'll definitely be back to try the spa services sometime. All in all, a lovely place with an excellent location!

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

One of my Philly faves, Buddakan, is only steps away. Their bento lunch is very reasonable $15. The dim sum donuts dessert is amazing- hope they never stop serving it. Check the local historic Phila free paper for but one get one entree coupon for City Tavern. Great deal and the kids loved the authentic colonial food & wait staff.

Only one "issue"

When booking this hotel, it mentioned "only 2 rooms left at this price". Upon checking in I realized why...they told me there was "no views" which really didn't matter as it was bed time and we had to check out early the next day. Out of curiosity, I opened the drapes and saw a brick wall. Someone hoping for a beautiful view of Philly would have surely been disappointed but it didn't matter to me.

Friendly staff, beautiful view

Location can't be beat if you're visiting the old historic bits of Philadelphia, but within a 15 minute walk you can hit the cultural/arts district as well. Good restaurants all around (Amada, Fork - go to Fork's casual cafe for breakfast - and Zahav all within a few blocks. Three of the top restaurants in Philadelphia!) Very friendly, helpful staff, from the doormen/greeters, valets, front desk, et al. Really won us all over. Stayed on the 9th floor, and the room overlooked the park, which was beautiful and green, but also included the waterfront (and a battleship), the CC East skyline, etc. The room was very comfortable - some of the bedding and upholstery looked a bit worn, but otherwise the furnishings were terrific. Not cheap, but found a deal online that brought the price in line with the service and excellent location.

Good restaurants all around (Amada, Fork, and Zahav all within a few blocks). Fork's casual cafe on Market between 3rd and 4th ("Fork Etc.") is a great place for breakfast. Fresh baked brioche rolls every morning to go with nice strong coffee.

The hotel was very nice and the staff was very helpful. The room wasn't quite as nice as expected and I would have thought breakfast would have been included. Overall, very good and a great location.

Excellent base for Philadelphia history

The best location for visiting all the historic sites. Very comfortable room. Swimming pool is tiny but sauna was excellent. AVOID the Ghost/Evening Walk Tour for which tickets are sold in ground floor gift shop. We found ourselves in a group of 35 people with one guide, who was poor. Thus, no atmosphere (despite the venue!) and a waste of $17 per person. Try Sonny's on Market for Cheese steaks and there's a fantastic weekend brunch at Continental on Market and 2nd.

Good proximity to national park

The Omni is a very good hotel conveniently located next to Independence National Historic Park. Parking as with everything else in Philly is a problem. Very good restaurants in walking distance. Valet parking at the hotel comes at a premium. The staff at the omni were exceptionally nice, everyone performed flawlessly.
