Some more work on basics
Poppi Nov 16, 2009
The hotel has a great location and the brief stay got off to a great start. On checking in, I was upgraded to a better room ... than I had booked, offered a complimentary breakfast, and was greeted by an attentive staff. The dinner in the hotel's only restaurant was exceptional for a hotel. The wine list was very good and the seafood was exceptional. Service was a bit slow, but tolerable. The room was comfortable, very clean, amenities above average. Easy to get a good night's sleep. After a very good breakfast, I checked my bag with the bell station and went to my meeting at another location. When I returned some 4 hours later, my bag had gone missing. It took two front desk encounters plus three calls by me from an airport before the "theft and loss control" manager got involved. The bag was recovered, apparently picked up in a mass move of checked baggage from the hotel. Hotel management has promised to ship. I guess I consider luggage handling to be basic for a hotel like this. But the staff may not be fully trained to attend to it. It was great the hotel found and recovered it, but they need to spend more time on some basics, I think.

If seafood and wine are of interest, try the hotel restaurant. The menu includes other selections, but I can only comment that the seafood I had was very very good.

My wife and I just got married and we were still in our tux and gown when we entered the hotel lobby. We asked the person ... behind the desk if they had any room upgrades available because we just got married and wanted to make tonight a special night. The lady on the side (i assumed to be a manager) came over and said hold on i'll go check. She rushed out of the lobby and came back a few min later. She typed a few things on the keyboard and told us that she upgraded us to the presidential suite at no charge! My wife and I were really excited! Up on the 37th floor is a spectacular view of the city and city hall. That made for lasting memories of our happiest day of our lives together! Thank you soo much!

Excellent hotel for Center City business
scampson Sep 9, 2009
I normally stay at the Westin when I travel (and when I can afford it). In Philadelphia, the Loew's was closer to where I ... had my job interview, so I stayed there. The neighborhood (Center City) was a bit dowdy, so I wouldn't stay there for a vacation. But it's directly across from the Pennsylvania Convention Center (and the Marriott), and it's close to the federal courts and a lot of historic sites. The hotel has 33 floors, I was placed on the 12th. I was disappointed that I wasn't higher up, but the room was perfect in every other way. It was a corner room with huge, double-height windows throughout, including the bathroom. The room was large and comfortable, had a huge desk with printer, full-length mirror, plenty of electrical outlets on and near the desk, and everything else you'd expect in a hotel room. The bathroom was large and comfortable too. One odd thing was the hallway. It was black and dark red in theme, and was surprisingly hard to navigate since the dark colors seemed to make distant spaces disappear. Another oddity was that when you enter the hotel, you must look carefully for signs directing you to the reception/check-in desk. There are stairs directly in front of you as you enter, but don't go up; reception is to the left. The otherwise excellent staff didn't offer directions as I entered the hotel. Overall, excellent.

Worth a review
Darkling Sep 8, 2009
I was in town for one night, flying home to Chicago the next morning. My only complaints are that they charge $10.95 per day ... for Wifi - so i would have paid $22.00 to use the internet for less than 12 hours - and that I could not get Temple U's radio feed nor much at all on the in-room clock radio. Everything else was luxury quality.

Loews Philadelphia Hotel

I had several meetings in Philadelphia and surrounding New Jersey during my three day stay. I was also able to take in a few ... local museums and the Liberty Bell thanks to the location. The room was quiet and comfortable at night. Bathrooms are very well appointed. The staff was friendly and helpful. Check in took a few minutes and check out is fast. Valet was quick too. I never waited more than 5 minutes for my car.

NOT PET-FRIENDLY
Gavin Jul 6, 2008
The only reason why this hotel is a pet-friendly is the fact that it lets pets stay. I cannot believe that Loews made it to ... top #5 in City search's most pet friendly hotels in Philadelphia. The main reason why Loews is not pet-friendly is its location. There is no grass or even a small area with mulch within 6 blocks of the hotel for dogs who are not wee-wee pad trained! My dog never made it to the grass area 8 blocks away, and she peed and pooped on her way there on the concrete floor every single day. A horrible experience. If the hotel had designated a small area for dogs to take care of their business, then it would've kept the vicinity of the hotel far more sanitary.

Melissa Mar 30, 2008
The Loews was in a perfect location. Right on Market Street, 2 blocks over from Reading Market and close to both shopping ... and the historic old town. The staff at reception was very inviting and accomodating as well. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who is considering visiting Philly.

A Comfortable Stay
Shanta Dec 30, 2007
I stayed at the Loews hotel in Philadelphia PA. It was a relaxing experience, the hotel staff is very friendly and the layout ... is beautiful. The food wasn't very good especially for the price they ask for but, you can always find somewhere else to eat. The rooms are spacious and nicely decorated, the bathrooms are lovely and the view is wonderful. I also enjoyed the heated pool and spa area it was very delightful. The location was very good, It's like you are in the center of everything that Philadelphia has to offer. I had a nice time at the Loews hotel, I just didn't like the food.

Great Value, Perfect Location
Erik Nov 24, 2007
The Loews Hotel on Market Street in Philadelphia is the perfect place to spend a night out on the town. The hotel is located ... right in the heart of center city with plenty of restaurants and shopping. The price is very affordable, especially compared to other hotels in the area. On top of all that, the accommodations are very nice, and the views from the upper floors are amazing. I won't even look at another hotel in center city; The Loews will be my only choice from now on.

The Loews Philadelphia Hotel was perfectly situated in the heart of Philadelphia. I travel quite a bit for work and I rarely ... find a hotel with all of the amenities of home. From the bathroom to the TV, everything was top notch. In addition, the staff was very friendly and the hotel has one of the most impressive workout facilities I have seen in quite sometime. I would definitely stay there again! A+++

Loews hotel had a very welcoming staff as soon as we arrived. The room was bigger than normal with a great view of the city. ... The location was in the middle of many attractions. I would recommend this hotel to other people.

Great hotel to stay at to run the Philadelphia Distance Run (Half Marathon)
Robin Sep 16, 2007
The Loews Philadelphia Hotel could not have been a better place for a runner to stay to run the Philadelphia Distance Run ... (half marathon). The concierge and doormen were extremely helpful. I was able to locate a delicious pasta meal the night before the race as well as a market to purchase the ever important peanut butter for running fuel. I was able to walk to both the restaurant and the market. Also the hotel is located across the street from the Convention where the running expo was held so I could pick up my runner's packet easily. Much to my delight and surprise, I was able to walk to and from the race start and finish. I was also able to conveniently take a train to and from the airport. As a woman traveling alone to Philadelphia for the first time I greatly appreciated the convenience, the location, and the help from the Loews Philadelphia Hotel staff. I had an excellent experience and would highly recommend this hotel to others.
