Well Done!
While the renovation of The Latham's public areas is not quite complete, the rooms are and ours was nicely done and very comfortable. Staff was helpful and friendly. No complaints, except for the struggle I had with the Orbitz website to confirm my reservation.

Great Location
Boutique hotel near Rittenhouse Square that is under rennovation. Minimal guest services but very nicely appointed room. No hotel airport shuttle although that is listed as one of the amenities.

Under renovation - super discount
This hotel is under renovation so the rooms are discounted. Only the restaurant and lobby are not done. Though the elevator was a bit of a drag since there was only one working. There are definitely some kinks to be worked out, but that's why the room was less than it would have been. The staff was very accomodating to make up for the construction.

Great location, hotel not as I remember
Although the personnel at the hotel were pleasant and friendly, the hotel itself leaves alot to be desired. The small lobby is under construction, with no bar/lounge area or restroom available upon entering. I asked the doorman about this, and he said the expected completion date is about a year from now. I was in Philadelphia for a college reunion; "just the girls", and although the location was wonderful, the hotel is in need of some major renovations. I have stayed here on several occasions in years past, and remember it as much more elegant. The hotel room was clean, yet the furniture was bordering on shabby. There was no fan in the bathroom, and it was almost hard to breathe after getting out of the shower. The room was certainly satisfactory, but again, details need to be attended to. I am planning a party for family and friends after the holidays with many out of town guests, and had considered the Latham for accommodations, but will look elsewhere under the present conditions. I am hopeful that the renovations will be a success, as I would be willing to give it another try.

Great location, shabby room
This was once a charming boutique hotel. We have stayed here many times, but this time our room was very shabby, with dirty carpet and threadbare chairs, dingy lighting and some surly employees. They claim to be undergoing total renovation to be completed spring 2011. I'm not sure I would take a chance on this being done any time soon.

Hopefully Renovations WIll Help
This is our second stay at The Latham. The location is fabulous, the staff is helpful and friendly, and the rooms are nice-sized and very clean. But we had trouble getting hot water for the showers, the wallpaper was old and tired, the upholstery on the room's chair was ripped.....all signs of old age. The hotel will soon begin renovations. It will be a much-needed undertaking. It's just refreshing to be in a smaller, non-chain hotel, so we're hoping that the new Latham will retain its charm.

Dirty. No hot water.
Would NEVER stay here again. Booked this hotel for a two day leisure trip to Philadelphia. Location was central to restaurants and shopping. However, the room was not clean. The curtains were stained, the bedspread had holes in it, and the furniture was literally falling apart. The nightstand fell apart when I tried to move it over slightly to plug in my cellphone. Also, the bed was quite hard and uncomfortable. The worst of it was the lack of hot water in the morning, and the unapologetic tone received from the front desk when I called downstairs to report it. We were told it was being fixed, but still had no hot water, (not even warm), when we checked out at noon.

Good Deal
The location is great and the price was the best in this area. We had stayed at the Sofitel on two previous stays but for some reason they were more than 100 per night more. This area of Philly is great for the ladies who want to shop. It has numerous bars, restaurants, coffee houses and sandwich shops. The subway is close by and there are always Taxis on Walnut st. Park your car and don't drive. The rooms are small but well appointed and have character to them. The King bed was comfortable. There is not a bar or restaurant in the hotel but you don't need one, everything is just outside the front doors.[...]

Great location
I stay at the Latham regularly for work. It's in a great Center City location, and is quiet on weeknights. The Latham is near some bars, so Friday and Saturday nights it can be noisy. The rooms are clean and staff accommodating, but the rooms certainly could use some freshening up. It reminds me of Mid-Atlantic traditional, with an excess of patterns. If you're not fussy about decor, and are all right with things that work, but can be a bit creaky, you will be fine. With the right online discounts, you get good value from the Latham. However, if you want the standard chain "new" hotel room, go somewhere else.
