No hot water for 3 days!

We paid $107 a night not including taxes for two nights. There was no hot water for just about our entire trip as the heater was broken. After complaining several times we were told they were working on it. Hot water returned late on our second night. We decided to stay one more night and they discounted our room by $60 dollars due to the inconvenience. Staff was very nice! Also no refrigerator or microwave in room. Hotel has "old" feel to it. My husband stayed here 10 years ago and he said it was the same. Also no free breakfast and breakfast buffet and continental breakfast seemed expensive. Free parking is a plus also!

Not amazing, but definitely stayable

The location wasn't bad, the Rocky statue was right across the street, and the Wawa convenience store was night to have right there as well. We went for the bars and nightlife in Philly. It wasn't very convenient to them, we took cabs, but the cab ride was never more than $15 so it really wasn't that bad. There were no refrigerators in the room. Not an amazing hotel, but if you're going to party in Philly it's worth the stay.

Good location, but problems with the roo

The room was not very clean. We had a major leak from the ceiling and had to use a trash can to catch some of the water. Reported it to the hotel but was not fixed while we were there. We ended up checking out a day early and did not get a refund for that day. Would not stay in this hotel again. It is badly in need of repairs.

So So Hotel

Older Motel on the edge of the city downtown area. Reasonable distance to shopping and recreation, probably a cab. Hotel needs a renovation. While we were there a ceiling leak developed in the hotel corridor. However, the room and the bedding were clean. The breakfast in the dining area was served buffet style. Eggs and bacon were pretty dryed out at 9:00 AM. Overall, my rating is just so-so.

Great staff, poor facilities

The Best Western Center City Hotel/Philadelphia has friendly staff, a fairly convenient location, and possibly the worst HVAC system and beds I have experienced. Since it was sweltering on arrival, I anticipated the HVAC system would take a while to cool the room and went off to take care of business. When I returned late in the evening, the room was cool enough, but the system continued to drone on all night long making an obnoxious noise. The beds were miserably uncomfortable with cheap mattresses and flat, uncomfortable pillows. I thought about asking to switch rooms around midnight, but wondered if anything better was available since a co-worker complained earlier that he had tried to nap in his room and found the emattress to be quite uncomfortable. In the end, I managed to sleep for about an hour. When I went to check out, I found the staff to be incredible accomodating and pleasant. I found it impossible to blame them for a facility that needs a complete overhaul.
