Just the basics

The hotel was in a great location for the start and finish of the Philly marathon. The bed was nice and comfortable. The bathroom was a little musty and could have used some ventilation. The heating in the room was so loud you couldn't possible sleep through it. The front desk staff was nice, but the room staff weren't overly friendly when passing them in the hallways.

An okay hotel

The hotel was okay for the price. The wifi was horrible in the room, it worked great in the front lobby. I would not stay here again.

Third world youth hostel with great location

Wow, this hotel is dirty! If you have a sense of adventure and some good humor its kind of fun to stay here. There is a sense of camaraderie with other guests as if you are all surviving together. Staff is inattentive and seems mildly annoyed at your requests. The carpet is mature, like 30 years old and rarely cleaned. The elevator is often broken and when it works its slooowww!! never been in a slower elevator! The only plus is location, the location is fantastic for museums:)

Connecticut to Philly--great 48 hr. getaway

Arriving mid-afternoon the desk clerk greeted us warmly and efficiently. He suggested we use the taxi to reach our dinner destination--We asked for a mixed drink with 'mixed' reviews...Our chosen dinner spot called "TIME" was an excellent choice--happy hour at 6 and a jazz trio supplying great background music. Our dinner selections were super--Duck breast cooked to perfection, tasty appetizers of marinated quail and duck scrapple. Our big thrill was to hear the Wanamaker Pipe Organ and to join other 'friends of the Wanamaker". Strolling Philadelphia streets after the concert and dessert at The Palm again spoke friendliness and great service. Evening at Best Western was totally comfortable, great beds, nice air conditioned room to make our stay much appreciated after a long days drive from CT. One could only wish to have stayed longer.

Grate location for Museums

This Hotel appears to be in a recovery program. The Staff was perfect and the room above average. The rooms are being upgraded and I assume the common spaces should be next. The breakfast room STaff was very nice and the eggs done to taste. A liitle expensive for the menu.

Old and tired hotel- needs renovation!!

Says they are remodeling, which is great! If that is completed soon, then it'll be a good deal as it's two blocks away from a great part of town. The good: -Great staff! -Clean towels and clean linens! Room for improvement: -A/C didn't work so well. -To turn the hot water on in the shower- the knob was completely stripped- so it required a fair amount of elbow grease. -Carpet in main areas was dirty. -Across the street from a police department.

Reservation disruption

The hotel failed to provided the type of room requested by your package at arrival. A king bed was specified but a narrow double bed was provided. The hotel did make the king available the next day after noon and that meant packing up and moving - a waste of precious time. This is an older hotel with heavy traffic evident in carpeted public areas.

nice inside great area and neighnorhood

Outside could use paint and updating but obviously they've made room upgrades. Bathroom and room clean and updated. Comfortable room for business traveler. Close to museums and downtown locations. I was pleasantly surprised by this place. Pub and grub across the street has great food too.
