Very disappointed
The shower didn't work right and when we got it to work there wasn't any hot water. The towel bar wouldn't stay on the wall. Will not stay there again, wasn't worth the money we paid!

A basic hotel that could use upgrading.
This hotel is showing its age, and the rooms need decent lighting, amenities and - most importantly - new heat & AC systems. All of us who stayed there for a funeral in town had a terrible night's sleep because of the cycling on & off of the loud (and hot) heat. By 4 a.m., the same idea occurred to all of us: turn the thing off. We could find no soft drinks in the vending machines. The dining room is pleasant and the dinners & wine list are more upscale than expected. But, the breakfast menu is too elaborate for our tastes.

Dining tip:
Short drive from hotel
The "Back Door Cafe" is the best restaurant in the area: fresh, creative food run by a concerned and hands-on husband/wife team, in an atmospheric, converted corner tavern in "Cambria City." Also - the "Discovery Museum" is a wonderful, fun, interactive look at America's immigration experience that kids & adults will like.

pleasant stay
We chose this hotel because of the indoor heated pool for our two children. The pool was a good temperature (not too cold) and well maintained. Overall, the room was clean and pleasant. A continental breakfast included in the stay would have been nice.

Just What I Expected
The Holiday Inn-Johnstown was just what I expected. It was centrally located (as the name indicated). The room was large. Everything was clean and neat. The restaurant was a pleasant surprise - really top notch. The only thing I didn't like was that I had to duck in the hallway - the ceiling on my floor was only around 6'6 (I'm 7' tall).

In Hotel
There aren't many worthwhile restaurants in downtown Johnstown. Unless you want to drive 20 minutes to the mall area, stick with Harrigan's Cafe & Wine Deck, the restaurant in the Holiday Inn.

Great Place To Stay
The Holiday Inn was very clean and comfortable. There was a weekend buffet breakfast and there was breakfast every morning. The coffee was in room and delicious. I would recommend this to anyone.
