Careless help.

When we walked in I smelled cigarette smoke; changed rooms. The next day the maid(s) smoked in the room while changing towels while we were gone. Other than that it was liveable.

mis-leading information regarding pets

we specifically searched for a room that would accept pets, this hotel advertised on your site that the first pet was free - $10 fee for second pet - yet upon check in we were told ABSOLUTELY no pets, and they would not refund our fee. They also booked us in a smoking room when we booked non smoking. We had no other recourse but to take turns sleeping in our car with our puppy as the hotel would not let him in our room.

Good value

We were only there from 10 pm to 6 am, so this room met our needs. It was clean and quiet, and that's all we were looking for. certainly nothing fancy.

Extremely overpriced

The hotel is not within walking distance of Gettysburg attractions; you will need to drive to those attractions. Our room request via Orbitz was not what was provided they could not provide a non-smoking roon. We called in advance to arrange for one bag to be held before 11am checkin and they agreed, but upon arrival they refused. The front desk argued with us -- the older man quite adamantly, but the younger (son we presume) was trying. The room was WAY over priced with Orbitz getting a HUGE cut (more than 35%). Call the hotels in the area directly as there are bunches of locally owned and operated hotels that can't get listed on websites. The area is great for tourists -- tons to do especially the battlefields, monuments, food and ghost tours. Not really an enjoyable one night stay at the hotel.

Dining tip: Short drive from hotel

Farnsworth Inn. The dining room is expensive, but dinner and lunch on the terrace are priced nicely and the weather can be great.

Country Hearth Inn

The Country Hearth Inn, Gettysburg, PA was exactly what I was looking for on my brief stay in the Gettysburg area. I didn't spend a lot of time at the motel, as I wanted it booked to sleep at. Mostly, I got in toward evening. It was perfect for me. Room was clean, and the desk attendant was courteous. There were no problems. If I was in the area again, I definitely would like to stay there. It was a good value for me.
