Clean room, old and needs remodel. Staff was friendly. mattress was worn but clean. I have to go to walmart and buy a pillow. The pillows provided were old, small, thin and not worth sleeping on. The location was great but there was massive road
construction in front of the motel and it was hard to get in and out.
This motel has the basics, and if that's all you need, it will do. If you want to stay close to the battlefield and be able to walk around, then it will work. However don't expect any 21st century amenities. This place is straight out of the
The only complaint was the night clerk didn't write me down for a two night stay on the card.
The day clerk let a woman use my rooms bathroom because there wasn't anyone staying in it according to the card. I wasn't in my room at the time, but I had just pulled in the parking lot when I saw her going into my room. This woman felt extremely embarrassed when she saw my luggage in the room. The day clerk was very apologetic for the mix up and promptly marked my card that I was staying that night.
Hotel features (5 = best, 1 = worst):
Short walk from hotel
The hotel only serves danishes and coffee for breakfast, take a short walk to the Avenue restaurant.
Its one of the older Hotels in the town. Its very old school, the rooms all still have regular keys. Its location was perfect for our needs and it provided everything we required, in a quaint and retro sort of way
the price was right
Good: the room didn't smell, was clean, mattresses firm and comfortable, we slept well. Location convenient, parking right outside of room. Bad: Room very dark, towels thin and small, no fresh soap the second day, it is difficult using a sliver
that's left after one shower. Soap bars were tiny, dated CRT TV, WiFi did not work - unable to connect to internet on any of 3 devices, phone, table or computer. Directions on connecting from staff did not work, they didn't seem to care to investigate further. Furniture and decor dated and worn, no alarm clock. Shower handle loose, advised housekeeper, nothing was done. For a few dollars more there are nicer places nearby. This property is overpriced for what it is, but adequate in a pinch if no vacancies are available elsewhere.
Located toward the edge of downtown Gettysburg, very convenient to tourist sites, restaurants and battlefield. Motel somewhat rundown, room ready for a makeover. Room not too well cleaned and toilet ran noisily 24/7 and not fixed during our 3 day
visit, even after pointing this out to maintenance man. But you get what you pay for. Very reasonably priced for the location. Friendly staff. The swinging bench outside all rooms perfect for reading on a warm late summer evening and watching the sun set. If you are a runner, battlefield horse trails withing running distance of motel.
