Horrible family getaway

The room was cold and dirty. We were the only ones staying at the place. The pictures on the site do not compare to the place. Save your money and go to a better place

Extremely Disapointing

As we drove up the driveway my new wife and I said in unisen, " oh my God", "you've got to be **** kidding". The lodge building was a faded yellow, pealing, unkept structure with rotting mildew covered deck and siding. The photos of the neat red colonial in the ad must have been taken 30 years ago or more. We were met by a man on a golf cart who took us inside the main lodge to regester. It was cold, empty and smelled like a musty wet basement. The etire place was very unkept and almost looked to be deserted. On the phone we were told of the beautiful view from the "Mountain View siute". The Poconos are very beautiful in October but there was no view to speak of from here...Read On It gets WORSE. We were told we had to pay an extra $10. a night for the fireplace in the room weather we actually used it or not. The room and layout were ok but the bedding was old and wrinkled and didnt even appear to be fresh. The bathroom heater did not work and the wallpaper was pealing, there was black staining on the bathroom floor from mildew under the flooring. Later, we found a towel hanging behind the bathroom door that was still damp from whoever had been there before us but that was just the beginning. As we were getting ready to leave the next morning I saw something under the side of the bed and looked to see what it was. Oh what a surprise!! A pair of dirty, inside out, womans panties. complete with a not so sanitary napkin attached. They weren't my wifes and they certainly wern't mine. Upon finding this treasure I looked around the room and also found a dirty tank top on the floor beside the couch. I confronted the housekeeper as we left who said she wasn't sure when the room was rented last."Obviously not long enough for the towels to dry. We started to wonder more about the sheets we had just spent the night on. I took photos of our findings and showed them to the owner before we left. He appologised and said that if we "had found them the night befor and told him,he would have given us another room". HOW GENEROUS, He offered NO concessions of any kind beyond that. This may have been a nice place 40 years ago but it is not at all what you see in the photos or what we were told on the phone. NO tidy red lodge, No nice lawn, just overgrown weeds. No spectacular view. Just a run down has-been property and some very misleading advertising in my opinion. I do not recomend booking a room here unless you see it in person first.

Very pleasant owners, but overpriced

We only stayed for one night. Room was clean, but smelled musty. Got the impression the placed is just starting up (with new owners?). It has alot of potential. It would have been better if the restaurant were open for dinner as we arrived late and were tired of driving or for an early breakfast. Also discovered many other hotels were priced lower.

Beautiful + peaceful surroundings

We have stayed at the same hotel 2 years ago. They were very friendly and the room was great. It was large and clean. It has a refrigerator and a microwave. I loved the whirlpool in the room. The outside could be updated. It needs a little work but all in all I would definitely go back again.
