Econo Lodge Altoona

THERE WERE STAINS ON THE DUST COVERS AND THE PILLOWS/SHEETS APPREARED TO BE WRINKLED. ON THE POSITIVE SIDE, THE DESK CLERKS WERE GREAT. EASY IN, EASY OUT.

This hotel is located the other side of Altoona railway station a taxi ride is required as its not walking distance. The staff are polite and helpful,the location for driving onto the interstate or to the famous Horseshoe Curve is very simple as the main road takes you right upto the interstate and its well signposted.there are 3 rental companies located here Enterprise,Avis and Chariot,the best thing about this hotel was the Hong Kong restraunt next to hotel.

Room was very cheap and breakfast was free which wasn't advertised, good. Traveling contractors mostly and some bikers and some families. Our (first)room smelled of cigarettes and TV was missing. Were moved to another room that smelled cleaner but fuzzy TV. Both rooms mostly clean if you don't mind stray Q-tips and kleenex balls behind the furniture. Both rooms had dangerously loose electrical outlets; I mean zero friction with plugs falling out (and one bashed in plastic plate). Those in the know will appreciate how dangerous plugs are this loose for fire hazard. A/C worked well and front desk staff was friendly and helpful. I would recommend to a friend except for the electrics - safety first!

I was able to rest, it was so peaceful and quiet although my prior visits to other hotels I had an iron and ironing board in the room and I guess I looked for that in this hotel and they did not have it. I was kind of disappointed but every hotel is not the same and it did not ruin the over all experience in staying at this hotel. I enjoy the location very much because there is so much to do, and so many stores and malls in the area, it is always a pleasant stay for me.

Inexpensive rates. Located near many fine restaurants and fast food services. Close to Lakemont Amusement park and the minor league Altoona team. Located in a valley with large hills surrounding city.

STAFF WAS FRIENDLY AND THE LOCATION WAS EXCELLENT.

Upon arrival at the hotel, it looked rough and dirty. There were rowdy people sitting on the sidewalks with their couch pulled out of their rooms drinking and smoking. The hotel evidently rent out rooms by the week or month, because these guys seemed very comfortable, and like they had been there for awhile. The parking lot was in terrible shape, and flooded due to the rain they had been getting. The woman that checked me in at 8pm also was the one that checked me out at 7am. She was very friendly and polite, being the only nice part of the stay. As for the room, the bathrooms could not of been cleaned after the previous person stayed as there was hair on the ceiling above the tub area, and the toilet was spotted as well from the previous person. Will not stay there again.

I was sure when I booked the room at this hotel that the description stated that each room had a coffee maker, internet access, & hairdryers. There was absolutly nothing to the room except 2 beds, a small bottle of shampoo and a TV. There was no hairdryer, coffee maker, or internt access. We feel lucky we had enough towels for all of us. In one corner of the room it appeared as if a pipe had been replaced, but upon fixing it, they didn't put the wall back. The opening in the wall was covered with wallpaper. I will never ever stay at an Econo Lodge ever again nor recommend one to other travelers. Econo Lodge Altoona needs to invest in updating their property or edit their description to reflect what they truly offer.

This hotel is great for a night or two on a bussines trip,it is quiet, staff is really nice, it is well located, clean, nice restaurants around, good shopping. Good price!!!. (Not for a family vacation)
