Two Day Get Away

We originally booked a standard room with queen size bed, The room was decent except it seemed to have an odor of old cigarette smoke. We heard the neighbors late the first night-the walls are very thin and don't hold out noise. For the 2nd night we upgraded to an ocean view room for $50 more. This was much larger, had 2 queen sized beds, kitchen, microwave and refigerator. The bed was very comfortable, We still heard the neighbors but not loud like the night before. The front desk clerks were very nice, when we checked in, he gave us two complimentary wine coupons to be used at the adjoining restaurant. We enjoyed the proximity of the hotel to the beach and promenade walkway. The weather was outstanding when we were there so it made for wonderful walks.

not happy with this place

We booked a room with a kingsize bed...received a queen. When I asked about it, I was told...."Nope, I don't have a king size. We didn't have an ocean view. The pool was cold, the hot tub had too much chemical.

Night on the beach

The room service was bad. The food was cold, salty and it taste like it was burnt. The room was nice but the fan didn't work in the bathroom. THought about going swimming but the pool looked cloudy - sure there was extra use due to the nice weather. ill give them that. Other than that the room was fine and cozy.

Paper thin walls

Was pleased with the comfort and cleanliness of the room. Was surprised that the cleaning staff resupplied the bathroom, but did not make the bed. The bed was really nice, but the the walls were so thin that after the bars closed i was subjected to the ongoings next door. The room served its purpose. Just a basic room, nothing special. Would recommend but relluctantly.

61st birthday escape

Slow this time of year so we were upgraded to a Loft Room, which means a view of the ocean. Big storm came in with gusts up to 70 mph or so. The loft room was noisy & shook in the wind. Because my job requires me to go to work when the power goes out, I didn't sleep well. Otherwise the room was great.

Mid week de-stress trip

The staff was fantastic and helpful. Unfortunately on the third floor where we had our room, many of the other rooms were getting new carpet... so everything was in the hallways.. making moving around the hotel a challenge, I feel the room rates should have been discounted due to the inconvenience.

Time-saving tip: Short walk from hotel

This hotel is right on the main turnaround at the end of the Lewis and Clark Oregon trail. Most of the 'tourist attractions" are well within walking distance. Leave the car parked and enjoy the coasts FIRST aquarium right on the boardwalk, as well as my favorite 'food group' deep fried elephant ears!

Shilo was great

Hotel and staff were great, right on the water, awesome view. Disappointed that I paid more going through a third party, than I would have if I booked directly!

Great place for a single woman's ocean stay

At the hub of Seaside, you can sit in the hot tub or in the restaurant and watch people walk the promenade in front of you, with the waves beyond. The complimentary glass of wine insures that you at least check out the lounge, and in my case with a live music Saturday night and a friendly crowd, l spent it dancing late into the evening. Kudos to the musician, "Bucky" - a talented local favorite. The room is fairly large and Shilo's motto "affordable excellence" describes it well. The staff was friendly and helpful. My only regret was my own mistake, next time I will pay extra for an ocean view room... and I will be coming back!
