CONCERNS

I'VE STAYED AT SHILO'S BEFORE. PROBLEM #1 AIR CONDITIONING UNIT IN ROOM WAS SO NOISY ON START UPS MAINTAINING TEMP THAT YOU COULD NOT SLEEP. WAS SURPRISED THAT ADJACENT ROOMS DID NOT COMPLAIN. SOUNDED LIKE A SHIP FOG HORN GOING OFF EVERYTIME IT ENGAGED. SO FOUR NIGHTS OF VERY LITTLE SLEEP. POOL AREA NEEDS ATTENTION, HOT TUB JETS NON OPERATIONAL. GOOD THING WAS MAIN STAFF GOOD. ROOM CLEANLINESS GREAT. FRONT DESK STAFF GREAT. MY ONLY COMPLAINT IS LACK OF SLEEP BECAUSE OF AIRCONDITIONING NOISE. JIM

Nice hotel.

The hotel room was very comfortable and the courtesy shown by the staff was exceptional. The location was a little out of the beaten path but not so far that getting around to the "sights" was not that difficult. On the plus side, it was easy access and one doesnot have to battle a lot of traffic due to narrow streets.

Great room for the price. Good location. Not on the beach, but fairly close to the beach. Hotel was easy to find and kind of out of the way so not a lot of traffic. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Room was comfortable and clean. Our daughter enjoyed the pool in the evening.

Just OK

Room was OK. The beds were too hard, the decor outdated. Paint was chipping and peeling in the bathroom. Although the hotel advertises as 100% smoke free our room smelled of old stale smoke. The "free breakfast" was skimpy at best. Just pre-packaged danishes and bagels, instant oatmeal, granola bars and coffee. Also too far from the beach to walk while carrying all the needed beach equipment.

Nice Stay

We liked our room. It was real roomy! However, the tissue box needed to be replaced. On the second day the maid put only one tissue in the box to make it look like it was refilled/replaced. Luckily, I brought my own from home. The location wasn't bad. The pool was alright except the floors weren't clean. I didn't like walking on hair and lint and the jets to the hot tub were not working at the time. Overall, the pool was great. The free breakfast was real good. I would come back.

Sightseeing tip: Long walk from hotel

We had to drive to the public parking to walk to the beach. No big deal really. I would want to park early enough to have a parking spot. The lot fills up fast. The aquarium is worth seeing. You can have fires in the eveings on the beach. I was surprised how cheap everything was (food/clothing). Everyone was real friendly. We had a great time!

Basic but satisfactory

Hotel is old but clean. Beds just OK. Staff pleasant. Difficulty with toilet but front desk staff noted issue. Only stayed one night on route to Depoe Bay. Ate at Maggie's on the Prom - easy walk from hotel (Prom and G Block)- excellent food (try the Halibut). Breakfast at the hotel was OK.

disgruntled staff and nice rooms

i got this room to celebrate my birthday. first of all, the lobby was run down and the pool appeared dirty. then the unkempt desk clerk came to wait on me. she reeked of cigarettes. she first was unprepared for my first question which was to ask how the rate i was paying compared to the rates listed onsite. she looked at me incredulously as if the question was ridiculous. then proceeded to tell me that she couldn't tell and had just woken up (at 3pm)! then she called me by the wrong name, a male name, when i am female, twice! [...]( i was tempted to explain that in fact the internet allows me to type my information and then she reads exactly the information i entered; that there isn't another party involved relaying the info to her by typing it in.)the room was nice. the walls were thin. the floors were thinner. the soap was yummy. the location was quite far for the price. but the bed was comfy and if you avoided the staff, it was alright.
