Good Experience.
The room was very clean, staff was nice and the location was good. They allow dogs which was very nice for us, but they didn't have any outside grass areas at the hotel for our pet. Great value for a very nice room and they provide breakfast.

what stinks
the room was smelly like a former smoking room,with a musty smell as well ,the "Deluxe" continetal breakfast was bleak the best thing was a belgian waffle maker no eggs ,bacon sausage anything you'd expect with a breakfast advertised as deluxe not even any danish rolls or donuts just cold cereal a couple of packets of instant oatmeal and 2 different cold cereals Blecch

right up the street is popeyes,carlsjr and some other places pass on the breakfast take the short walk it's worth it

i went to salem to watch our friends cage fight right by te fair grounds, this hotel was perfect distance from the fights and everything else we really needed. front desk service wasnt the greatest and housekeeping woke us up an hour too early. but all it was clean, quiet, and i got a great deal.

Get real!
We were sight-seeing around Oregon and stopped at Salem to visit few more places on our way back home to Concord, CA. We chose Howard Johnson because it seemed reputable, the price was right, provided free internet, and claimed to offer "expanded continental breakfast". The room we stayed in had residual smell of cigarette smoke, did not look clean, could barely connect to the internet, the breakfast was minimal not extended, the manager seemed to do everything which included working in the breakfast room. Two stars for this hotel was being too generous.

GREAT Stay
Visited Salem, OR for pleasure and to visit with a friend while staying at Howard Johnson's. Location was easy to find and convenient to shopping and restaurants. Place was clean and quiet. Rooms very nice and clean as was the shower and bathroom. I may stay there the next time I go to Salem.

Try the "Hometown Buffet" located on Lancaster Blvd at the Lancaster Center. Great "all-you-can-eat" place for a GREAT price.

Stay at Howard Johnson
I very much enjoyed my stay. It was clean and quiet with food nearby. Breakfast with hot waffles was great. Huge beautiful parks nearby and same Mission St. I personally thanked the manager.

As promised
We found the room clean and odor-free. No noise from parking lot or street. We requested a room for 3 and ended up with one queen bed. The breakfast room is small at 'rush hour' but the front lobby was available. We will stay again when we are in Salem.
