Howard Johnson Inn Salem OR

We were in Salem to attend and event. We stayed 3 nights and Howard Johnson's was more than adequate for us. We did not eat from the contenental breakfast room as I like to have some protein choices, but i must say it was better than some. Coffee, juice, bagels, sweet rolls, cereal, oatmeal, etc. Several choices of places to eat were nearby. We would stay there again.

We just wanted to get away for a few days..nothing fancy. Just needed a clean safe place to call ours for a bit. The room was not fancy, but it was clean, quite, and served its purpose. Staff were friendly, the rates were good, and the location was close to where we needed to be. You dont get cholocates on your pillow, but then we were not wanting that either. The hotel is older, but still maintained. The pool was out of commision, so we didnt get to use it. We found other things to do. But then again we were not there to stay in the room all day. Breakfast was the usual. No protien items (eggs etc.). But waffles, cerial, bread, and juice. The basics for what you need. Take the cost of breaksfast (at say Dennys) off of the room rates and the overall price gets even better. Bottom line, we had a couple nights sleep, some breakfast to start each day, and then off to do what we wanted. Back each night to do it again. We would go back again! I guess that is the important part.

hotel was on business route so very handy. Rooms were clean, premises well kept. Continental Breakfast was adequate.

for the price its a room with the necessary amenities. Clean and comfortable, a personal safe in each room, just dont expect a lot of room,

The room was very clean, staff was nice and the location was good. They allow dogs which was very nice for us, but they didn't have any outside grass areas at the hotel for our pet. Great value for a very nice room and they provide breakfast.

the room was smelly like a former smoking room,with a musty smell as well ,the "Deluxe" continetal breakfast was bleak the best thing was a belgian waffle maker no eggs ,bacon sausage anything you'd expect with a breakfast advertised as deluxe not even any danish rolls or donuts just cold cereal a couple of packets of instant oatmeal and 2 different cold cereals Blecch

i went to salem to watch our friends cage fight right by te fair grounds, this hotel was perfect distance from the fights and everything else we really needed. front desk service wasnt the greatest and housekeeping woke us up an hour too early. but all it was clean, quiet, and i got a great deal.

Spent a short night here on a business trip. It was perfectly fine with nothing particularly outstanding or problematic of note.

We were sight-seeing around Oregon and stopped at Salem to visit few more places on our way back home to Concord, CA. We chose Howard Johnson because it seemed reputable, the price was right, provided free internet, and claimed to offer "expanded continental breakfast". The room we stayed in had residual smell of cigarette smoke, did not look clean, could barely connect to the internet, the breakfast was minimal not extended, the manager seemed to do everything which included working in the breakfast room. Two stars for this hotel was being too generous.

The front office personnel was very personable and helpful.
