Good place to stay
It was overall a good experience. The rooms were clean and comfortable. It really wasn't that bad of a walk to downtown as long as its not raining. The staff were very friendly and extremely helpful. I would stay here again.

over the bar
Didn't know our room was directly over a local bar so was a little annoyed about midnite when bar patrons gathered on sidewalk for a smoke and some loud conversation. Second night was better. Best thing about it was 10 minutes to VA hospital. So simple it outweighed any negatives.

Average Hotel
Title of hotel City Center. Not that near as title implies. Some staff good. Others could do better, when guest requesting information. Hardly any places to have a meal close by.

Good average hotel but location was bad
Located too far from the downtown, but in a quiet area. Easy to get to. The rooms were clean but other than that it was average.

First visit to Portland
Clean room, friendly staff and a good price. A short walk to get free transport area, light-rail, streetcar and buses to move to different sites of interest, or to airport, Amtrak station or Greyhound station. Although is aside of highway there is no noise in rooms. Next to Portland University district.

Shopping tip:
Short walk from hotel
Farmers market on weekends on South Park Blocks, it is an excellent place to get fresh fruits, cheese, bread, cookies and a good food to breakfast or lunch.

Close to south downtown,PSU
We stayed 4 nights, then extended cuz the location was in walkable distance to downtown & close to bus stop. Room was clean, outside patio had potted flowers but wasn't swept. Minimal amenities, such as sharing newspapers. Near an ambulance station so sirens sounded every so often. Adjoining tavern/restaurant not very clean. Price online less than what they could offer on site.
