I only have one complaint about the hotel and that is you had to pay for internet whether you were in your room or on one of ... their computers. I have stayed at less expensive hotels and have had free internet. Loved the location. Was there for a wedding that was just 3 blocks away. It was close to a variety of restaurants and stores, so we could walk. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. They even had small beer tastings in lobby on week nights.

Hotel was very nice and in a good location in central Portland. Noise level was sometimes high. Parking was the biggest ... concern as you were forced to use valet parking if you wanted to park at the hotel. The nightly charge for guests was extremely high. Not the most effective way to treat guests!

Great location and bed
weary traveler Jul 31, 2009
Location is super close to pioneer square, Max line and the streetcar. They do charge about $30 a night to park, so park at ... the garage nearby, or park on the street free until 8am. I was also charged for gatorade I didn't drink. I got the refrigerator key so I could store cold items in it (amenities list fridge but its actually their in room bar and you need a key), and there was a half bottle of gatorade inside when I opened it, which had expired months earlier. I immediately called front desk, however was still charged for the bottle at checkout despite being told it wouldnt be on my bill. Although I am furious, its not worth the time and energy to call about a 4 dollar charge. Unfortunately the person responsible was never charged, so that tells me the staff is not very thorough, and the half drank expired bottle had sat in there for months. My room was next to the elevator and it was loud in the mornings, so I asked for a fan for white noise, which was brought to my room and helped a lot. The bed was super comfortable, never wanted to leave it! I also loved the huge bathroom and separate tub and shower. People said in reviews the rooms are small, but I didnt think so at all. The staff isn't as friendly to those of us not dressed in business suits, but that kind of thing happens anywhere. Overall I would stay here again, but I would definitely make sure I wasnt charged for items I didnt use!

The stay at the hotel was typical of any Westin. The only downfall to this particular hotel was that it only had two ... elevators that served 19 floors. At times, we had to wait quite a while for it and had the hotel been really busy, it might have been more of a problem. Overall, the hotel is ideally located and adequately met our needs.

We were only in Portland for the weekend visiting friends, but managed to squeeze in a lot of activity. We were told that Portland has amazing public transportation, but our friends drove most places and we did a lot of walking. If you like beer, Portland is your city. There are tons of breweries to visit. We stopped by Rogue, McMenamins, Amnesia, and the Lucky Lab to name a few all of which are worth visiting. Restaurants we visited included Rogue (for lunch), Fire On the Mountain (for hot wings), Pine State Biscuits (for breakfast), Byways Café (for lunch, but they were only serving breakfast), Old Town Pizza (for dinner), Voodoo Doughnuts (for breakfast), and finally Salvador Molly's (for lunch). One of the friends we were visiting is a student, so all these places were very casual and affordable. Portland also has an outdoor market on Saturdays and Sundays for most of the years near the river, so we strolled around that on Saturday. We also did a little shopping in the various districts around the city. On Sunday, we went to the Portland Zoo and then headed home. Overall, Portland is a great city with very friendly people and a relaxed attitude. I definitely recommend it to anyone.

Heat Struck back in AZ Jul 13, 2009
The room was small but cozy..comfortable bed and huge, modern bathroom... Location was perfect ,however the parking fee of ... $29 /day plus valet tips was ridiculous and the idea of an internet fee at $12 a day ( if used in your room)was also an unexpected expense.. so we felt "nickeled and dimed".. It would have been nice to be able to come back to the hotel in the evenings for a drink or dessert , however the bar/restaurant closed at 10pm on the weekdays and 11 pm on weekends. Considering how easy it is to get around Portland , unless money was of no concern, I'd look for a less expensive place to stay...in other words , a bigger bang for my buck.

there are none..park across the street in public lot for $18/nite...on street on Sundays only...buy a bottle of wine on your own for late evenings drinks...you can use the wireless sv for free in the bar when it's open..or in the lobby sitting area if you are close enough to the shared bar wall after it is closed

The Westin in downtown Portland was very comfortable, service and staff very friendly. The room was very spacious with a ... large bathroom and a separate shower and a tub! We received excellent info from the staff about local restaurants and enjoyed walking to many things. Unfortunately the parking fee was rather high and very limited around the area.

Great staff
Diane Aug 24, 2008
The staff at this hotel was very accomodating and friendly. The shower and bed linens were wonderful (I would have loved a ... tub, though). The only problem is the location. Downtown, there are many homeless youth, who beg for money, and ask to use your cell phone. It's a shame that the policitians cannot keep this in check.

There is a mall within a few blocks. There is also a wonderful cooking school cafe - Le Cordon Bleu - in the next block. It serves lunch and dinner, and is very nicely-priced. The Saturday Art Market is approximately 10 walking blocks away, and has great artisans!

This hotel was Fantastic. The check-in was a breeze. The staff as helpful as can be for someone having never been to ... Portland. The room again was fantastic. The dining, well the food was great. The only thing not to my liking was on a weekend(Friday the 4th), the last call was at 11:00PM, but I can deal with that. It is perfectly located, with the rail and walking you can go to and get to everything. Not much more to say, the place was great. Would and will stay there again.

Heidi Jun 15, 2008
The best part of this hotel was the bed. It was SUPER comfortable, with wonderful sheets and pillows. The bathrooms ... were also very nice with dual shower heads and lovely tiled shower stalls. We had a corner room on the 5th floor, and the shower was enclosed in clear acrylic in our window-filled bathroom. It was WONDERFUL. The desk staff were very friendly and very eager to help. Probably my largest complaint would be with the valet staff, who drove our poor little rental car with the vengance of an angry 17 year old. Overall though, fabulous location that was within walking distance of everything. We will stay here again (just no rental car!).

Outstanding Location and Great Staff!!
Carla Mar 28, 2008
The Westin Portland staff was outstanding and the location was perfect!! The hotel is so centrally located that it made our ... daily outings a breeze. The front desk staff was tremendously helpful. They provided us with great recommendations for spots to visit, places to eat and even made reservations for us for dinner and car rental. They were attentive and the hotel really did feel like home by the end of the week. The staff greeted us by name and knew where we were from and why we were visiting. I had never had a hotel experience like that before. The restaurant in the hotel was overpriced and the food was just OK. There are so many good restaurants within walking distance to the hotel that it was not a big deal. The housekeeping was a bit disappointing. The bathroom was not thoroughly cleaned upon checking in. We called down to have someone recheck it and despite the spot cleaning that they did, we still did not feel that it was very clean. The business center provided free internet access and there was coffee in the lobby in the morning. I would without a doubt recommend anyone visiting Portland to stay at the Westin!
