Great location and hotel

Hotel portion was great, but don't try the hotel bar. Rude staff and he sneezed into our drinks and pretended it didn't happen.

Girlfriend escape

Only one bad thing-It was really loud. We could hear the restaurant and we had really loud neighbors at 2:00am. I will go back and try an outside viewing room. The location is perfect.

Only thing 5 star was the price!

We stayed on a Saturday night to celebrate my husbands birthday, and we were not impressed. The reviews were outstanding, but we were very disappointed. When we arrived, there was not signage in the front room, nor anyone standing behind the desk, which turned out to be the bell boys desk. The room was full of smoke, I am assuming from the clubbers lingering in the front room. Finally, someone came out and told me I had to go all the way to the 8th floor for the hotel lobby. When we checked in the front desk girl was completely obilivious, and had no idea what she was doing. As she was checking us in, she asked for our mailing address, which is a suburb of Portland. She then proceeded to let me know that if we were in town to see some sights they have a concierge for that. She sent us back down to the 7th floor for our room, but failed to tell us anything about the hotel, where anything was in the hotel, or the fact that you need your key card to use the elevator. Once we traveled all the way down to the first floor again, with a bunch of annoyingly drunk patrons, we figured that out ourselves. The 7th floor is poorly laid out and there is little to no signage telling us where the rooms were. When we found our room, disappointment again. The room was not very clean, including the disgusting chaise lounge in front of the window, covered in what I would assume is other hotel patrons hotel fun. GROSS. The view was awful, which I had paid extra for, and the bed was just 'eh'. Nothing special. We wanted to watch some TV, and found that you could turn it on to 1 station, but when you changed the channel the whole tv froze, and you had to turn it all off to start over. Ridiculous. The bathroom sink could only do 'hot' water, and so when I needed a drink it was either hot water from the tap, or expensive bottled from the hotel. Then next morning, we had ordered room service. The food itself was good, nothing to complain about, except the price. For two people, pancakes, eggs, sausage, toast and coffee: $83.00. Im sorry, but it wasn't THAT good for breakfast. This hotel cost over $300 for one night, and supposedly is the best in Portland. I felt cheated out of my $300+. Next time I'll be staying at the other chain - and get my points for it too!

Birthday weekend

Our first two nights were perfect. The staff was very accommodating when we requested early occupancy. Our room was large, beautiful, comfy bed and had torn down service each night. Upon arrival we had decided to stay an extra day and was told our current room wouldn't be available, but they would move us to a comparable room. They even moved our bags for us. However, when we returned from our outing that third day and got our keys to our new room, we were astonished to find that it was half the size, on a lower floor, had a shower instead of the specifically requested tub, and cost 10% more than our prior room. We were told that because we booked our original two nights online that we got a third party rate , but since we booked the third night directly, we paid more. I was very disappointed. If they had told us that up front, I would have just booked the extra night with online.

excellent hotel

Chosen because of rating ,location and pet friendly policy. It certainly is a superior hotel but use of a key card for elevator is a mild nuisance. The public decor is beautiful and modern. The only downside of "pet friendly" is that there's no "watering place" for dogs for 5-6 blocks.
