Convenient location if you have a car
This hotel is great if you have a car, since they have free parking onsite. The hotel is a few blocks from the freeway on/offramp, so it's very easy to travel around the city since it is pretty compact. Staff is courteous and professional.

Not only is this a great hotel but because it is slightly out of downtown, it is also very reasonably priced. Complimentary breakfast was great.

Great places I have stayed
My son and I were there to participate in Univ of Portland's Weekend on the Bluff. The Hotel was perfect. It took 10 easy mins to get to the Univ. When we weren't at the School it was nice to have 23rd St with all of it's shops and boutiques to go through. The hotel staff were very helpful and courteous. The rooms were great and it was nice to have a complimentary breakfast. We really needed that service because of our early rising times. I don't eat grains of any kind so I was appreciative of the eggs and sausage. Yeah protein!! I had just taken a business trip and The Silver Cloud was so much better and less costly than where I stayed before. If my son goes to UP I will definately stay at Silver Cloud.

Business travel
I was in town on business and needed a centrally located hotel, with easy access to the 5 and 405 freeways. This hotel filled that bill for sure. The staff was very helpful. Upon check in I was handed a list of over 40 different choices for dinner, all within walking distance of the hotel, and informed there was a manger's reception in the lobby from 5:30-6:30. The reception included free beer, wine and appetizers, a great way to finish off a day of business. For dinner, I chose the Matador, great atmosphere, tasty food and a very reasonable price, only a 5minute walk from the hotel. The room was comfortable with a nice new big screen TV, in room coffee maker, microwave, iron and ironing board. The complimentary breakfast was also a good start to the next day, including your standard continental offering as well as eggs and sausage, and of course a handy dandy waffle maker. All in all it was a pleasurable stay and I will be staying here again for my next trip to Portland.

Silver Cloud Inn
The hotel was nice on the inside and the rooms were very clean and comfortable. When I arrived the gentleman at the desk gave me my room and when I walked into it it did not match what I had reserved, so I called the front desk and he told me I was wrong [...]. He became snide and I requested that he look at my reservation and that I had requested a certain type of room. So, after telling him he was rude, he called his manager and they did give me the room I paid for but for the rest of my stay I was very unhappy.

Nice stay in a cool neighbourhood
This hotel is surprisingly situated in a nifty neighbourhood with many cafes, restaurants, pubs, shops and my friend Karin all within easy walking distance. The staff members are extraordinarily helpful and accessible at all times. The rooms are clean, very comfortable and well set up, providing all the extras like internet access, microwave, fridge, coffeemaker and large vanity space. The simple breakfast and shuttle service were bonuses. The only suggestion I would have is for healthier choices (whole wheat) in the breakfast spread (too many pastries). Overall, very satisfying stay.

Good motel in trendy location
This hotel is in a good location for access to the Good Samaratin hospital and has quick access to the major highways. The night clerk was new so we we forgiving. It does seem that some motel staff reside at the motel and we were awakened some mornings by 2 youngsters running up and down the hallway. It was the week of the Olympics after all. I have stayed at 2 other Silver Cloud motels and the other locations had larger rooms.
