Amazed

I am amazed at how kind the staff are . It was hard to believe that it didn't cost more. The lobby did smell of cigar smoke but everything else was wonderful.

Really good place to stay!

The only thing that could be better about this place is of course, the one thing that can't be changed and that's location. It was just a little too far out from the city. There is a bus stop right outside the hotel but the last bus from downtown to go out there was at 8pm, so we had to take a different bus that dropped us off about a mile from the hotel and we had to walk back in the dark. Other than that, this hotel was a lot of fun, good food, great hospitality and the cigar bar was a lot of fun. Loved the hot tub and the room with a view as well!

Probably a very nice hotel when it was new

First, I don't recognize any of the photos on this site, they must be old. The main bldg is nice, but if you're staying in one of the other bldgs, its kind of a maze to get to your room. The room was nice (slight smell of cigarettes, didn't notice it after 5 min.) The free wi-fi worked well, and the breakfast was better than expected - a real breakfast in a restaurant. Choices were very limited, and they charge for beverages, but the food was quite good. Overall, a nice value.

Be of good cheer, stay here

This was my second stay at the same Shiloh Inn and I highly recommend it. The rooms are lovely, the complimentary breakfast is wonderful, the check-in staff very helpful, I will be traveling again to Portland shortly and will stay at this Shiloh again. The lobby is beautiful as are the grounds. And it is so quiet.

Dining tip: Short drive from hotel

Within about a five minute drive you will find numerous restaurants. We ate at Antoni's/mediterrean and american food - it was delicious. Also within that same five minutes is a shopping center with a good variety of shops.

Don't judge by the exterior

When we first pulled up to the hotel, I was not too sure but after walking into the lobby I felt much better. Inside there was a nice restaurant and the staff was friendly, we were told that we would be able to come down to the restaurant for a free breakfast the following moring. Once again when we entered the hallway for our room it was certainly a bit run down but once we got into our room we discovered that they were comfortable and modern. For the price, it was great and not too far from downtown.

Drive 1 More Mile & You Could Do Better

The staff was polite and we were checked in quickly. However, although it was clear that there were a lot of unbooked rooms--due to the holiday--we were still put in a tiny room. We had the impression that this was done after we asked for a room that was not on the ground floor, and 'how dare we ask'.

Private and comfortable

It was quiet and had a nice back porch entrance with chairs as well as an indoor hall entrance. The pool/hot tub were not open which was a bummer. The feel of the hotel was like a summit lodge. Loved it!

nice place, just needs a little more

The hotel was great, beds were comfortable, Just wish there would have been breakfast. They give you a coupon for the on site restaurant but it is only good for biscuits and gravy or bacon and eggs. Also I stayed three days and the coupon was only good for one day. The restaurant was good, but expensive.
