Pure Pleasure!

My wife and I both agree that this place is superb; very "classy" and yet not at all pretentious! The location by the river's edge was sweet; biking and walks along the river by moonlight was quite romantic. The staff are friendly and very attentive. The spa -- both the amenities and the staff was wonderful. We indulged in a Spa for Couples, as well as my wife enjoying a facial as what she described as "pure pleasure." While she had her facial, I took in the steam room, sauna and spa bath. Finally, the restaurant, also with lovely decks over-looking the river, served delicious food and drinks. We are already looking forward to our return visit!

Great Hotel- Okay Spa

This hotel is awesome and I would definitely recommend staying here. Early check-in was no issue, we had a complimentary upgrade to an incredibly gorgeous room (which was awesome because it was our anniversary), staff was super helpful. I'm not sure the value was all that for the price though. There was a complimentary shuttle service that we scheduled an appointment with. We waited 15 minutes and went back to the concierge to learn the driver was on lunch. Very frustrating. The spa services are too pricey for the quality. Stick with the complimentary. Great restaurant and bar next door with awesome service.

Nightlife tip: Short walk from hotel

Take advantage of the streetcar and the Trimet bus system. Very clean and efficient services and they have stops everywhere! Easily avoid drinking and driving or the outrageous cost of a cab.

Porltand Weekend

The River's Edge Hotel was just fine! Not being from Portland nor ever been there, this Hotel seemed like a great spot on the river and was just that. The Spa was great as was the staff. It is a fifteen minute ride on the city's trolley system to downtown- and if available, they have a courtesy truck to drive you w/in a certain range.

Weekend getaway...

Honestly, it was difficult to leave the immediate area, much less the room itself. The view of the river from our balcony was beautiful. The Aquariva restaurant is one our favorites in Portland! I look forward to staying here again and again.

I am a patient at OHSU

I have stayed here several times before when it was the Avalon, that was great. With this new ownership, it was the worst I have ever felt. It was way overpriced very impersonal. The rooms use to be nice, had a robe in it for personal use. I feel that not having the breakfast, especially the coffee in the morning was GREAT. Now we have to paid for it. On another note the meals are overprice and not that great. I won't be staying there nor recommend it to anyone. It makes me sad as it was a safe close place for me to stay as its close to the tram at OHSU. By the way, I don't believe that the price I paid to stay here was a patient discount as I checked online it was the same for everyone else....shame on this place...Won't be staying here again~
