Our room had a view of the Columbia River which was absolutely gorgeous. The room was large and suited 3 girlfriends quite ... comfortably. It was hard to identify the lobby entrance after dark, but they're doing some construction so maybe it'll be better lit in the near future. The hotel didn't feel new but also didn't feel super dated. We did, however, hear every step of the people in the room above us; the floor was super creaky. Parking was a breeze once we located the entrance nearest to our room. We didn't deal with the staff very much, but when we did they were fast and friendly. We refused to eat on-site because of the prices, but there are many food options extremely close by. Access to Portland is superb. (Stayed in Feb 2010.)

We arranged this trip to see some old friends. One couple we hadn't seen in 40 years. The hotel was quite nice and the view ... wonderful. There was enough noise late at night to keep us awake. There were a few teens there for something and a family in the room next to ours who were still going strong at midnight. I'm sure if we had called and complained that would have been taken care of. We would definitely stay there again.

The check in was quick. This is a big hotel and we were there during the holidays. It was really empty. We enjoyed the ... exercise room. Nice selection of free weights and machines. The lights they had out for the holiday were very impressive and a nice touch. I have stayed here before for work reasons. That is why I chose this hotel. The location near the freeway for easy on and off can't be beat.

The place was beautifully decorated for Christmas. The grounds are well-kept and pretty. Its nice to stroll along the river. ... The staff were wonderful and courteous. The rooms were spacious and clean. Only drawback is the noise of low flying planes if you are a light sleeper. We had party noise where we were at that vibrated our floor and glass coffee table. Nothing unbearable though. We finished our weekend with a fabulous Sunday Brunch at Shinnanigan's. I wouldn't stay there without a substantial discount.

We felt kind of stuck way out there. Too far from the city and from family in Portland. And I would have preferred a place ... closer to restaurants. (Plus I wish I had known one of their balconies had recently plunged into the river with five people!) BUT the food and view were decent for a hotel--good omelets and the Caesar salad with salmon wasn't bad, but we got tired of it after three days. The employees were very nice--especially the waitresses and the airport shuttle drivers. We finally gave in and rented a car for one day to tour the wineries in northern Willamette Valley--which I highly recommend. I'm sure this location would be better in the summer.

In all it was a good choice. Great location, staff very helpful. It needs to tweek the housekeeping as the maids are a bit ... sloppy with their housekeeping. When we arrived there was a glass laying on the floor and the carpet had not been vacuumed. The people next door had a very large dog in their room and there was dog poop in the hallway exiting their room. It was not good coming out of our room in the morning and step in fresh dog poop that was in the hallway. It was an unfortunate insentient for us. All in all, your a great place to stay at. Sometimes, "S--- Happens!" Would certainly stay there again. Thank you.

The Red Lion on the River Jantzen was a wonderful surprise. The balcony scene over the river was spectacular; the rooms ... spotless, updated, and the comfortable beds made them perfect! Each room had a fridge, microwave and coffee maker, too. The service was extra-friendly. It has everything. Minutes from downtown Portland and not far from favorite hiking trails of the area made it an even richer experience. Also perfect for professional meetings (as I plan those) so I took note. The best part for me were the trees all around the hotel and in the hotel -- such a lovely spot. In walking distance were a variety of eating areas and stores in case you wanted a change from the in-house restaurant. Free shuttle to the airport was another plus. I will stay there on my next trip to Portland!

I went to pick up a puppy we bought. This was my first time to OR, and I loved it. The hotel was right on the border of OR ... and WA. You could see the mountains. Right on the Columbia River, you couldn't ask for anything more perfect. I went alone, so it was a much needed R&R away from children and life. The food there was good, just overpriced I think. But would stay there again.

Would recommend to a friend!

Location for airport/Portland sightseeing great. Rooms were large and nicely decorated. All the staff we met up with were ... positive, welcoming and eager to be of service. Main dining room quite lovely with river view, but a little pricey. Our wake up call came on time! Would certainly recommend it to others.

If you like wine, make a point to visit Willamette Valley. Lots of fun and you can check a case (the box they can give you) on your flight. Check out Ponzi and Chehalem.

Nightlife tip

We went out every night looking for night life and were left wanting. Many great attractions during the day and wonderful dinning but not really anywhere to go and have a few drinks and dance the night away.

We ate several meals at "Boomers". Not much atmosphere, but excellent food and friendly staff. Walking distance from hotel other side of the freeway. We did not eat at the hotel , so I would not know anything about their food.
