Nice place, not so comfy beds
We stayed 1 night for a quick road trip up from Eugene. The "oversized double" bed was so small and my husband and I could barely fit. No fridge in the room. Other than that it was pretty nice and the staff were friendly.

Great stay in downtown Portland
During our stay the hotel was under construction (should be fininshed by mid February 2012). Even so, we did not hear construction noise and we had a terrific stay. The temporary lobby works great and there are many restaurants within walking distance. Know that you have to pay for parking ($30) and that the internet is also not free ($13).

Gets the job done
Hotel was alright, had an ongoing renovation of the lobby, but coffee and cookies were nice - however there were lots of petty charges for things like Internet access. Our conference group paid 200$ for a few hours of Internet access, and it was cut off mid day due to "too many users" - which is ridiculous. Sadly the room I was given didn't have the correct number of beds, when I called the front desk to get it corrected nobody answered - so I decided to lump it. I wouldn't depend on details like that to work out here. The hotel has a sports bar attached with reasonable prices, and good hours. Although ordering off the menu for the same items as room service made a small lunch for two come to 85$ - I assume because the prices are increased when delivered this way.

Great Birthday experience
I treated my girlfriend to a night at the Marriott on the water front. It was great. We got to see Greg Oden at Buffalo Wild Wings and topped that off with a party from some people we met from the hotel. Overall, it was a great experience. Thank you Mariott

Not bad, but not spectacular either
Went here for a conference, so the rate was discounted and internet was included for free. Even so, nothing was particularly special about my stay. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable, and the attached restaurant was expensive---the same could probably be said of most hotels of this class. One weird thing (or cool, I haven't yet decided) was that the inside elevator doors are reflective (practically a mirror). While it's nice to be able to check your hair, collar, etc. while in the elevator, standard elevator-sharing etiquette doesn't really apply anymore... I felt like I was forced to stare at the people around me.

Long walk from hotel
Buses and trollies very close to hotel. Some were free. Always taken cabs in past. Thought mass transit close to hotel was great. Especially with easy on and off in rainy climate!

great hotel and even better staff
The only thing I would have to liked to have known was that it is always valet parking which adds $30 to the cost per day. But the staff was very helpful and it is the perfect location.

Had everything we needed
Went to Portland for our wedding anniversary for the weekend and wanted a nice, inexpensive hotel downtown, so we chose the Marriot. The place is not right in the middle of downtown, it is just a few blocks south, but it is still walkable to most everything. It is a few blocks from the RiverPlace Marina, which we had never been to before. Parking is a little rough with $30/day valet, so we parked at a Smart park 2 blocks away for less than half that. Beds weren't that comfortable, but the pool and workout equipment were nicer than most hotels we have stayed in.
