The hotel was very clean and quiet. The staff was not overly helpful. I even heard the concierge tell one guest that it ... wasn't his job to answer questions about parking. The bathtub did not drain the first morning and after stopping by the front desk it was promptly fixed. The cleaning staff was extremely friendly! Oh and the bath products are Bath & Body Works...actually some good stuff. Not the usual junky hotel soap and shampoo.

Good Choice
Enjoy Aug 19, 2009
Upon arrival at the hotel, the porters were eagerly awaiting to transfer our luggage into the hotel. The front desk staff ... was very friendly and efficient. The rooms were very clean and modern with a flat screen t.v., coffee service, marble bathroom counter tops, polished mahogany wood furnishings, and a self-regulating climate controlled system. The hotel is situated within the free tram service area of downtown. There are many shops and restaurants within walking distance of the hotel. The only drawback is that Portland, Oregon is not a tourist destination; and there is not much to do in terms of sightseeing. The downtown area is deserted most of the time; and the waterfront area is not well developed. Yet, the hotel, itself, is lovely and a good choice.

Very Helpful
groomsman Aug 11, 2009
We arrived very late(3am) our first night and had been put in a room with two double beds when I had requested a king. All it ... took was a quick stop at the front desk to ask for another room. They assured me they would have me moved as soon as I was ready and they kept to their word. The new room had the king we'd hoped for and a beautiful view of downtown Portland. Staff was very friendly and extremely helpful!

Marriot Portland Center
Nikki B Jul 15, 2009
I asked for the person checking in to locate my Marriot rewards number and he told me that he could not. I'm sorry but I am ... an elite member and I usually have to have it looked up because I carry too many cards. I found that rude. There was not an area or courtyard to sit outside. It is very claustrophobic to have only interior rooms without courtyard. And I was not extended my marriot perks or room. When I checked out and HAD the number (I got my husband to look up) He acted put out to even add it. I did not get my paper at the door during my 3 day stay, nor did I get my bill under the door.

I went down to Portland for the 4th of July weekend. The location was fabulous and easily accessible. Great stay except for ... the gym being closed for renovations and the hotel being unable to fulfill their promise of 4 free movie tix. Excellent valet service and super clean and quiet rooms.

A friend and I stayed here and partied in downtown Portland. It was great to come to a convienant location within walking ... distance of everything fun in downtown. It was also a pleasure to come back to a clean room and a comfy bed after a hard night of partyin. I also must mention that the room was nice and dark, quiet for sleeping at night.

As in my previous stays at the Marriott, I had a very pleasant experience. I was able to check in early, the room was ready. ... I had called ahead to make sure I could get a room with two beds plus a Roll-A-Way Bed added. No problem. The location is perfect for the places we went. All with-in walking distance. The room was great and roomy. WE had a very nice time.

Great Hotel at a Great Location
Padma Rao Dec 20, 2008
The Marriott City Center Hotel in downtown Portland, OR is at a great location in the heart of the downtown. The hotel is ... surrounded by all kinds great shopping points, all within a few blocks distance. The Tri-Met MAX Lite rail station at Pioneer Square was just 1 and 1/2 blocks from the hotel. This service connects, Hillsboro, Beaverton, and the Portland international Airport, among other places. The room service was great. The staff were very friendly. I enjoyed my stay and would be definitely staying there again.

In the heart of Portland
Jennie Oct 3, 2008
The Portland Marriott City Center was the perfect place to hub out of on a recent leisure trip to the Northwest. It was easy ... to navigate to from the airport, within easy walking distance of ALL the features of central Portland (Riverfront Marina, Chinatown, Pearl District, downtown shopping and dining), and just a few blocks from the highways we took for day-trips. We had the advantages of staying in the middle of downtown, and yet it was 30 minutes to Willamette Valley wine country. Even though we strayed wide and far during the day, we looked forward to coming home every night where the valet parking staff recognized us and took our keys, the lounge staff offered up a nice glass of wine, and we had the option of eating in at the lounge/Shula's or walking 1-2 blocks to several excellent restaurants. The staff was genuinely friendly, from the front-desk to housekeeping, to the maintenance/room-service/bell-service staff we ran into in the elevators -- all greeted us, asked us about our day, and engaged in real conversation. I look forward to our next visit.

I was very pleased with my stay at the Portland Marriott. The staff were all very friendly and accomodating to all of my ... needs. I used the fitness center once and it had great equipment! My room was spacious and clean, and everyday I came back to clean towels and a bed that was made. The location was really great for my trip being right in the middle of the downtown area, and I found lots of things to do within walking distance from the hotel. Overall it was a great experience.

Aida Jun 15, 2008
The Portland Marriott was centrally located to all, airport, resturants, and other small cities. The only thing it would be ... nice if they had a fan in the bathroom, coming out of the shower it really fogged up and couldn't use the mirror. But the room had a nice view and the staff was very informated and always asking if you need directions to go anywhere. I will definitely come back and recommend this hotel. We had stayed others and by far this is the best.

As you walked into the lobby of the Marriot Downtown Portland it is apparent that it is well mantained. This continued to the ... room. Very spacious, clean and inviting. The staff was helpful and freindly and made our stay very enjoyable. Also very easy access to all transit which was important for us because we took the train from Seattle. Easy access to all parts Portland.

The hotel was near everthing. From Shopping to nightlife. For $4.25 a day you can get an all day pass for Portland Transit System and see the city from the Zoo to the Science Center and Rose Quater travel to all the nitelife with out worry.
