Hotel staff made the weekend special
Personal service, attention to detail, and a warm atmosphere added that extra touch to our weekend. The staff makes every interaction personal. We asked to check in early - and understood when they said an hour. Five minutes later they were seeking us out - ready to give us our room keys. Folks in the restaurant were just as super at providing the right amount of attention - and personality! We met some interesting folks at the cocktail hour - again just one more thing to add to our fun time in Portland.

Sightseeing tip:
Short walk from hotel
Powells Bookstore was an unexpected find - seemed as big as a college library with both used and new books. We came home with at least 10 of all kinds.

Everything but the dogs.
The hotel was everything I wanted it to be. The friendliness of the room service attendants was above average. I ordered room service three times and each of them made me feel quite at home. Now the reason for the review title. It would be embarrassing to me as a hotel manager to represent a hotel that welcomes dogs over it's guests. Dog water at the door? I didn't know I would be staying in a hotel for dogs. I heard a dog bark viciously next door from housekeeping entering a room with a dog left behind. I don't know if this is just me, but this alone would keep me from a second stay.

weekend away
Hotel Monaco is a beautiful friendly hotel. The staff are amazing and know the true meaning of customer service. They were very nice to our dog and even had a welcome sign for her. We got a free upgrade to a King suite so we had lots of space. The bathroom was really big but the amenities were average. It would have been nice to have a bigger bath tub in that size bathroom. Also, the decor in the room was pretty bad. Mismatched everything and really awful wall paper. Everything was clean and neat and comfortable though. Highly recommend it!

Surprisingly Nice
Came into Portland for an academic conference and ended up bundling a hotel in with my airfare because official conference hotels were full. Monaco turned out to be nicer than the official conference "big brand" hotels -- much nicer. Wonderful staff, great amenities. This is where I'll stay whenever I'm in Portland.

A Portland Gem
The suite was quite comfortable and had all the amenities one wants. The staff was EXCEPTIONALLY polite, friendly, helpful, and cheerful. I have never encountered at another hotel staff that were equal to those at the Monaco! This was my second stay there and it will be my hotel of choice in Portland in the future. For pleasantness, comfort, price, and location it cannot be beat.

Pattzo's Italian restaurant for dinner. For breakfast, Mother's, Morningstar, and Bijou. There will be no disappointment---only happiness---with these choices.

great hotel
These guys know how to do it...the amenities of a modern boutique hotel without it being so cool it''s cold... The decor is funky, colorful and playful...and the fitness room has hula hoops...what more can I say? My only negative would be the restaurant...strange menu and nothing special, but there are lots of good places to eat close by.

We had a lovely time. Misread the amenities, thought there was a pool and/or sauna, brought the gear but never used it. I love a sauna or hot tub. Very comfortable hotel, great location, friendly & helpful staff, slept great. Found the handouts about holiday restos and activities very helpful. I LOVED the evening music and wine, had a couple of pleasant conversations. I really don't care for all the snack and drink items in the room and the space they take up, especially when we brought back a doggie bag and couldn't fit it in the fridge! Wished we could have used your bikes but the weather was against us.

Short walk from hotel
Using the free-zone metro to explore gave us a good sense of the scope of downtown and allowed us to pace our walking.
