Featured on Conde Nast Traveler's Gold List for 2009, the Hotel deLuxe brings to Portland an era of Hollywood and glamour that has never been seen before. With a modern art-deco design, the hotel provides all of the luxury that a business or leisure traveler could wish for.
With almost 400 photographs from Hollywood films ranging from the 1930s to the 1950s, the corridors and all 130 rooms lend an insightful eye to any and every film buff. Every star from Clark Gable to Audrey Hepburn and Joan Fontaine adorn the walls for all guests to enjoy. Each floor carries a glorious theme from "The Maestro" (Hitchcook) to "The Rebels" (Orson Welles, Elia Kazan, Howard Hawks, John Huston and Joh Ford) - even "The Exiles" (Ernst Lubitsch, Miachel Curtiz and Erich von Sternberg).
In addition to the decor, sophistication meets charm with thin flat-screen televisions and HDTV (first hotel in Portland to offer full HDTV capabilities), sumptuous beds and linens, soft comforting colors, MP3 menus and MP3 listening stations in every room, high-speed wireless Internet, 24-hour room service, 24-hour business and fitness centers, Aveda bath products, pillow menus and a spiritual menu (Buddhist? Taoist? Catholic? Scientologist? We have the perfect bedtime reading for you!).

A quick and relaxing shopping weekend. The deLuxe is just a few blocks to the Pearl District with easy walking distance to ... all the shops and restaurants. Just far enough to burn off the late night drinks before heading to bed. The hotel has a great classic and luxurious feel. The staff is wonderful and the ammenities are great as well. Great for business travelers, couples weekend getaways, or luxury living on the weekend. The room we stayed in was small, but very nice and had pently of storage for an extended stay as well. Definitely enjoyed the trip and hotel.

About 4 blocks to the dining and shopping in the Pearl District. Also, very close to PGE park, which is a great place to catch a football or baseball game.

Soild "10" Experience
Lovey & Me Oct 9, 2009
If the world held a Hotel Olympics, this hotel would easily be awarded solid "10's" all across the board. Perhaps, it is the ... old world charm that one expected in the days of honest-to-goodness hospitality while traveling. These folks prove that it is still very possible to extend that extra hand and treat guests with a super positive attitude which is easily returned by gracious visitors. Don't miss a chance to stay here while visiting Portland and see first-hand, first-class service!

Lovely place to stay in Portland
Suszn B. Sep 29, 2009
The staff at the door were all very nice and seemed motivated to offer any kind of help you needed. They have 24 hr room ... service. They will even bring you things not on menu like Voodoo Doughnuts. The Driftwood Room serves some wonderful signature cocktails. Happy Hour goes until 11pm, which certainly made me happy! The food was excellent. Gracies is a beautiful and relaxing restaurant. It was my first time visiting Portland. I will certainly plan to stay at Hotel De Luxe again. Next time I won't rent a car. The hotel is located right on the TriMet that goes to and from the airport!

A hotel with alot of classical style
Out of towner Sep 17, 2009
While I was there on business I went to the bar downstairs I believe it's gracies sports bar and it was not noisy at all ... fairly quite but relaxing to watch the game. The bar hostess was very friendly. Valet service was fantastic always right on top of all decisions before you need to make them. Front desk staff was friendly and helpful. Location makes it nice and quite on the outskirts of town. Hotel deluxe is a classical movie themed boutique hotel. With pictures of the classics on the wall and hints of rooms like the screening room gives the guest a feeling of being a classic movie star.

Friendly staff, cushy bed
Frequent traveling Retiree Sep 4, 2009
The hotel is handsome and has a great, friendly, well-trained staff. Unfortunately it is a bit off the beaten path; most ... Portland hotspots are a hike, although the hotel is right on the MAX line so it isn't too hard to get around. The room was a bit small but had fabulous high ceilings which made it feel bigger. The bed was very comfortable with high thread count linens and a cozy comforter. The hotel restaurant, Gracie's, is good and has a nice mix of higher end dinners as well as sandwiches. The restaurant is a plus since most other restaurants are at least 8 blocks away. Even the coffee places are far! The hotel is relatively close to the Pearl District but still a bit far from both the Pearl and the main downtown section of Portland. I recommend the hotel highly as long as the location does not present a problem for you.

You've Got to Pay to Live Hollywood
Couple o'Luvbirds Aug 28, 2009
The hotel is decorated in a very "old hollywood" style, which is cute but sometimes a little self-conscious. The decor also ... makes the hallways and rooms feel claustrophobic at times. Our room was beautiful, albeit small (despite being called a "queen deluxe"). The window, unfortunately, faced other hotel rooms and didn't create a sense of "openness," contributing to a slightly enclosed feeling. I loved the subway tile in the bathrooms and the tub was quite deep. There was also an iHome in our room, which was an unexpected bonus. The Driftwood Bar, located in the lobby, has been one of my favorite bars for about a decade and it is pretty much unchanged. One of Portland's best-kept secrets! We stay in Portland about four times a year and usually stay in the same place. This was our first time at Hotel DeLuxe. The location is good and parking on the street is easier than in the heart of downtown, but I'm not sure we would choose to stay here again unless there was a great bargain on a larger room.
Traveler type: Couples
The Driftwood Bar is dark and ambient. Champagne cocktails during happy hour are $5. Get dressed up (or not) and stare at yourself in the huge glass mirrors... You're sure to feel Hollywood glam.

Friendly Staff
Angela Aug 9, 2009
Very convenient to Max & streetcar lines. Would recommend this hotel to someone who is laidback, someone who doesn't mind ... that this hotel is not right in town requires a short walk and/or ride in. Also you should be alright with a room that is a tad small (one chair to sit-in besides the bed). Everyone that works here is super friendly & accommodating however, I do wish there would have been other perks that would have come with the room...free continental breakfast, free newspaper, free bottled water, turndown service, etc (any one of those). I know that sounds small but sometimes it's the small touches that helps you overlook some other things that are bothersome.

Great place to stay in Portland
Rosie Jul 27, 2009
Great hotel. Very friendly, helpful & honest staff. Located a couple of blocks from one of the MAX Stations (I think it's the ... PSE Center stop). Get yourself a day trip card good on all public transportation & you're good to go. Located a couple of blocks from the streetcar main line too. We don't take our car to Portland, we come via' train so I don't know about parking. Very nice & relaxing room. Great bed / bedding. We left our IPods accidentally in the room. We called & the front desk got right on our request to please check our room. The staff brought our IPods to the front desk & we returned to the hotel to pick them up. We have stayed all over Portland & would rate this one of the top places we've stayed. We would definitely stay again & would recommend it.
Traveler type: Couples
Purchase all day metro ticket & go where ever you'd like. It's a great deal, good on the MAX, busses & streetcars. Get a FREE public transportation map from the visitor center located in the city square. It's a great map & will show you everything you need to know about the public transportation system.

The hotel had super service. The people who work there really know the "happenings" of the city. The rooms were ... comfortable, clean and, had a fun vintage flare to it. The hotel is not located in the heart of town but, is a quick walk away from mostly everything. If this hotel is in your price range it is a must.

Momkatz Jul 9, 2009
Wonderful location , just few blocks from downtown Portland; staff very friendly and helpful. Good bar with lots of choices ... and quiet, elegant restaurant, attentive staff. Not an upscale neighborhood, but that was not a problem for us as we are urban people and used to walking and taking public transportation ( Portland is known for its public transit). Would definitely recommend.

I took a cab to the hotel from the airport for about $40 including tip. If you aren't in a hurry, the Portland "Max" light rail red line runs to and from the airport with a stop about a block and a half from the hotel. [Portland's "blocks" are actually half-blocks, so walk times and distances may be less than you'd think from looking at a map.]

Restaurants, department stores and shopping malls within walking distance or jump on the max line. Free in the downtown area. Streets are a,b,c easy to get around. Lots of restaurants surround the hotel. India House may not be inviting but the food is yummy and for breakfast go to Mother's Bistro and Bar and have the greek frittata it is phenomenal. If you like good coffee the Coffee House on SW Broadway and Alder makes an excellent Mexican Mocha.
