Great stay at deLuxe

Had a great stay at the hotel deLuxe. The atmosphere is fantastic, with the movie theme very well carried out throughout the property. The lobby is very stately and cozy at the same time. The little bar is one of the coziest , with great mixologists and food. The restaurant serves excellent breakfast lunch and dinners. A pleasure throughout with amazing service and quality. I have stayed here a few times now. If you are more than 1 person and stay for a while, I suggest upgrading the room to a "feature type". Much larger (2x, 3x?) than the single room I have had which is kind of small. Worth the upgrade price.

Perfect weekend getaway

We were able to park the car on Friday and not get it to Sunday. It was great being able to walk or take transit to anything we wanted to do over the weekend. The rooms are smaller but decorated nicely and very comfortable. It is what you expect staying in a historic hotel. The omelets at Gracie's were amazing. The front desk staff was very friendly and were quick to switch our room to a/c and send up a fan when we notified them that our room was hot.

Great stay!

We spent a week at this hotel while visiting Portland. It was a great experience. The staff and service are impeccable. They gave us great recommendations on things to do and places to eat. They provided us with local maps to find locations as well. The Driftwood Room was a great place for night food and cocktails as well. We also loved the location. It was perfectly situated between the downtown area and the 23rd street area. We walked everywhere we went, but we are big walkers. The cleaning staff was great too. The gym/fitness room was small, but the machines they have a very nice and up-to-date. They had a bike, treadmill, and elliptical along with free weights and weight machine. The business center was small but very nice as well. We will definitely go back to this hotel when we visit Portland in the future.

Dining tip: Long walk from hotel

Most of the local restaurants have great happy hour food and usually offer it early evening and late night. A lot of the higher end restaurants have great offers during these times. The food at the local restaurants was wonderful!

Lovely retro hotel

Clean, lovely hotel with an old movies classics motif. Huge room with very comfortable bed. Staff is friendly and helpful. On site restaurant is very good. Close to downtown action, but you do have to walk a few blocks to get there. The valet charges were a surprise, and a few bucks more than other hotels, though the valets themselves were awesome. If you don't need to leave the area, don't rent a car. Use taxis and the downtown rail system instead. The cost of the valet service was close to equal to the cost of renting a full sized car for the week.

Money-saving tip: Short walk from hotel

Don't rent a car if you don't need to leave the area, get a cab for the longer distances instead instead. Valet charges for a week were close to equal to the cost of renting a full sized vehicle for that same week. I have arthritis issues, and I could still walk to most venues. Some, however, were too far, especially considering I was walking to the meeting place for a walking tour of downtown Portland.

Soild "10" Experience

If the world held a Hotel Olympics, this hotel would easily be awarded solid "10's" all across the board. Perhaps, it is the old world charm that one expected in the days of honest-to-goodness hospitality while traveling. These folks prove that it is still very possible to extend that extra hand and treat guests with a super positive attitude which is easily returned by gracious visitors. Don't miss a chance to stay here while visiting Portland and see first-hand, first-class service!

Hotel deLuxury

My stay at Hotel deLuxe was wonderful. I felt like I was in a luxury Hotel without the luxury price. The hotel was within walking distance to Portland State University, Pioneer Square and the Pearl district. The staff was very helpful and I felt very comfortable everytime I returned to the hotel after a long day of ventures.
