Hotel Modera

We were on an Art/Architectural tour with the Seattle Art Museum, Decorative Arts and Painting Council. Our main objective was a comfortable, modern hotel to use as our home base within easy walking distance of the Portland Art Museum and good restaurants. It is a wonderful, friendly, small hotel that suited our purposes perfectfully. As we traveled by charted bus, we can't comment on parking convenience, but saw nothing that would make us expect any particular difficulty using a rental car or personal automobile there.

Great location

The room was small for three people but would be great for two. Comfy bed and bedding , room and halls all smell of citrus which was really nice. The only negatives would be no dresser for clothes (two drawers night stand only) and $20 a day parking charge valet only ... But a very fast and courteous staff takes the sting away in the long run. We enjoyed the restaurants house red wine and atmosphere before bed. Japanese gardens, OMSI, and shopping were great day time activities. Within walking distance of many coffee shops, cares and sight seeing.

OR trip

Hotel was clean and neat. Maid service was great and staff was very customer oriented. Took several bags of southwestern foods to my son and the staff at the hotel stored them for a day in their break room freezer. The rooms were a touch small with only one chair at the desk.

Great Stay

I was in town for business, and to see if i like portland enough to move there. this was the perfect location. right on public transit line. walking distance to museums, parks, resturants, culture, shopping, everything. the decor is modern. it's nice to see a hotel with real art, instead of "hotel art." the staff were friendly and helpful (but really so is everyone in this city). as a first timer in the city they definatly made me feel comfortable, and helped me with anything i needed. yes, the rooms were small, but it was enough room for me. and the food was great. it's not the cheapest hotel downtown, but it was worth the money.

Great location, great amenities

This place has a very convenient location to anything in the city. The room was very clean and the decor and stuff was very nice. A few caveats: The AC/Heater fan is really LOUD. They charge $27 a night for valut parking... however, there is lots of street parking nearby (metered 8AM-6PM Mon-Sat, 1-6PM Sun) which if you leave early in the morning is pretty straight forward (you can actually prepay for parking starting at 6AM as well).

Trendy but friendly

Professional service from check in to check out. The bar area is elegant and looks out over a fire-pit courtyard with outdoor tables and service. We chose from the Happy Hour Menu and the snacks were good, tastefully served and moderately priced. The indoor restaurant, however, has tables arranged in tram-lines and appears uninviting. Aside from this, the only mild criticism we had was the closet/ bathroom arrangement. The two shared a rather heavy door. Something has to give, though, in the renovation of a small room.

Higgins Restaurant, a block away provides a limited but interesting menu. The tables are carefully arranged and well separated and the service impeccable. Bit on the pricey side, but the place was full nevertheless. Worth a try.
