Modern comfort in good location

The room was immaculate with modern, new furnishings. The Plasma screen TV was very nice. Unfortunately, the remote doesn't respond very well, but it's easy to live with. The bed linens were very soft with a European style duvet instead of a standard blanket. The toiletries were top notch as were the towels. The staff was very helpful and friendly. Unfortunately, there's no restaurant or bar on the premises. Location was ok. It's a bit of a walk to the Pearl and the Max train line although several bus lines do stop directly in front of the hotel. I would definitely stay there again.

Superb Hotel

I was passing through Portland for a night and wanted a nice hotel to rejuvenate after a couple weeks on the road during a hiking tour of the northwest. I was extremely pleased with the staff and room. The decor of the hotel was unlike any I've seen. Although it's a bit on the pricier side, I think it's a great value if your looking for a nice place to stay in downtown Portland, I hope to come back on my next trip.

Loved this Boutique Hotel!

We stayed at the Hotel Modera for 2 nights - our first time in the city - and LOVED it. I was looking for a boutique hotel, centrally located and this was it. We walked everywhere and took the trolley/train - just 2 blocks away. The Hotel Modera is close to the Farmers Market - the concert locations (our reason for being there) and lots of shopping. Loved the courtyard and firepits - great way to meet people and share travel tips. Staff was EXCELLENT - friendly, helpful, interested in our experience in their city. Will recommend this Hotel to anyone travelling to Portland and hope to return!

Great place to stay

Staff was super friendly and helpful. The rooms were so modern and stylist! Marble everywhere, super clean too. There was some kind of fur blanket on the bed. Very classy. Only thing I didn't prefer was the location of the gym, it was down the street. I would like it to be in the hotel. Besides that small detail, this place is the best place I've stayed in Portland. Free small bottles of wine upon check-in just because I told them I was having a rough day! :)

Hip hotel with a good location

The hotel is clean and uniquely decorated. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Internet was free, location was convenient to get to the main attractions in downtown, and the MAX lines are nearby. Only negative was our room was really warm, even with the air set to 67. It never cooled down much. They give guests passes to 24 Hour Fitness which is two blocks away which works out well. They require a key to get in the elevator which is a great security feature. Great hotel overall. I would definitely stay again.

Excellent Choice

Very Friendly and informative staff. Gave us solid driving directions when facing street closures in the Portland area. Courtyard and lobby very comfortable. Modern decor but with a very homey feel. Bed ( mattress) was super. Rooms well laid out and everything top drawer such as ipod player alarm clock and flat screen TV. Good location in University district. Easy walk to River front, theaters and several nice pubs in area. On site restaurant and bar ( Nel Centro) served good food/drinks at reasonable prices. Definitely stay here again on next visit

A Classy Hotel in a Great Location!

The Hotel Modera apparently has not been open that long, but you would never have guessed that from the quality of service and well-appointed room. Warm tones of decor, beautiful artwork displays, and a super comfy bed all made for a complete experience. My husband was only disappointed that we had forgotten to check the brand of the mattress before we left this hotel in Portland! They also offer a fantastic array of fresh fruits, pastries, and proteins (meat, cheese, hard-boiled eggs) with the complementary breakfast. When checking out, the hotel clerk asked where we were heading, and then proceeded not only to print a map but also offered suggestions as to where we could stop for a great lunch along the Columbia River Gorge Highway! We will definitely return to Portland - a terrific cyclist-friendly city - but also to this gem of a hotel.
