Excellent value for the mony
The staff were very welcoming from arrival to checkout. The room was comfortable and the bed, which is important to me (with a back problem), seemed new and firm. Everything was clean and every neccesity was supplied. The continental breakfast that was included in the room rate was fresh and plentiful-- with more variety than is usual. All in all, this hotel was a find as a boutique hotel, and not part of a chain. I would have no hesitation about recommending it.

Very hip
Hotel Modera, has a very modern layout. Close to Portland State University, as well as close to the Portland waterfront. Staff is very friendly and outdoor patio is relaxing. Hotel does lack dining facilities. As far as the room as are concerned they are very cozy.

great stay
The Hotel Modera was beautiful - I loved the decor. It is modern, but also warm and cozy at the same time. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was small, but perfect for my stay. I really enjoyed the outdoor fire pits!!! The only draw back was the lack of a restaurant inside the hotel. However, the morning breakfast was ample and a good variety. I highly recommend this hotel.

A Classy Hotel in a Great Location!
The Hotel Modera apparently has not been open that long, but you would never have guessed that from the quality of service and well-appointed room. Warm tones of decor, beautiful artwork displays, and a super comfy bed all made for a complete experience. My husband was only disappointed that we had forgotten to check the brand of the mattress before we left this hotel in Portland! They also offer a fantastic array of fresh fruits, pastries, and proteins (meat, cheese, hard-boiled eggs) with the complementary breakfast. When checking out, the hotel clerk asked where we were heading, and then proceeded not only to print a map but also offered suggestions as to where we could stop for a great lunch along the Columbia River Gorge Highway! We will definitely return to Portland - a terrific cyclist-friendly city - but also to this gem of a hotel.

Very pleasant stay
I was only in town for a single night. A business associate also stayed at the hotel and was please with his stay. The hotel was very centrally located and has had a recent remod. The staff were extremely nice and outgoing. I enjoyed my stay very much and would certainly consider staying again should the opportunity present itself. I had fun joking with the front desk staff about their Nihilist uniforms!

Modern comfort in good location
The room was immaculate with modern, new furnishings. The Plasma screen TV was very nice. Unfortunately, the remote doesn't respond very well, but it's easy to live with. The bed linens were very soft with a European style duvet instead of a standard blanket. The toiletries were top notch as were the towels. The staff was very helpful and friendly. Unfortunately, there's no restaurant or bar on the premises. Location was ok. It's a bit of a walk to the Pearl and the Max train line although several bus lines do stop directly in front of the hotel. I would definitely stay there again.

Great place to stay in Portland
Really great stay at this hotel. The decor and vibe is great. Makes you feel like you're on a vacation just by entering the hotel. Staff was always friendly and helpful. Room was very cute with nice sized flat screen TV, very cool bathroom and fixtures, comfy sheets. My boyfriend and I were visiting Portland for the first time this holiday weekend mainly to explore, relax, and shop. Marina Fish House floating restaurant was a must. Great food. Weather was excellent which topped off a nice overnight trip.

Excellent stay
Very swanky rooms with low key but cool modern decor. The staff is not pretentious, the hotel bar is nice, with a great evening patio where you can sit by the fire while you eat & drink & lounge.

Khun Pics Bahn Thai. An unknown restaurant in a residential house without a sign, where the owner prepares every dish herself with everything made to order and nothing pre-prepared. By far the best Thai food in Portland.

Impressed
1 night rest stop from motorcycle road trip. Although the room could've been a little larger, impressed with plush, modern furnishings/fittings and the great customer service. What a surprise. Now I know what boutique hotel mean. With the low room rates through CheapTickets, it's a bargain. Even 2 large screen Macs in the lobby area available to guests.
