Great Time in Portland.
This is a very good "base" location to check out the 23rd ave shopping and libation district. The staff was professional although the check in was a little bit rushed but very nice. We were a little early and they were able to accommodate us with a early check in.

Not with kids
We stayed here when we took a small family minivacation riding the train. Mainly the kids wanted to play in a pool, have their own beds, and head to Powell's book store. No problem I thought. First the good...very clean and neat with comfortable beds and nice staff. It's within walking distance of the street car, very close to the bus stops, and only a block away from a nice organic health food store. We did a late check out to avoid spending a few hours at the train station with all our bags too. On the not so good side, it's advertised that a rollaway bed is available when you check in, but when we tried- it wasn't available with the queen bed rooms due to safety code, so our kids couldn't get their own beds which made for some grumpy kids, but they understood. Then the pool wasn't working. It was when we checked in, but 20 minutes later it had caution tape around it supposed to open the next day, -then it didn't. Or the next day. So that was a MAJOR disapointment. It didn't ruin our trip, but it sure didn't help it. The kids did LOVE that book store :)

Short walk from hotel
There's a co-op organic health food store up the street. It's perfect for people that have some dietary restrictions....the hotel's buffet is fine for most people, but full of gluten and wheat.

This is our home away from home
We have stayed here multiple times as our son lives near by. The beds are so comfortable, the breakfast adequate, and it is clean. Also has a great pool. The staff is excellent. Can recommend it for families.

Convenient
We stayed here because of its convenient location , walking distance to family ( the family guest room was unavailable ) . The pool was a plus as we entertained the grandkids there several times . The included breakfast was a convenient feature . The other hotel on Vaughn , Silver Cloud , is very nice as well but no pool . There is a need to upgrade the TV to flat panels and pay per view .

Time-saving tip:
Short walk from hotel
If you are visiting family in the neighborhood this is a good place . Also the place if you are doing the NW 23rd experience of shopping and dining . Fare-less Square transportation starts a few blocks up from the hotel on NW 23rd if you want to extend your exploration to the downtown locations . This is also the closest location to the trails of Forest Park

Loved it!!!
I absolutely loved staying here. It was clean, and nice and comfortable. The staff there was really nice too. Every morning we got a "Good Morning!" or "Hello!". And the breakfast was so good! I also loved the location. It was in a nice area on the outer parts of the city and it was sooo easy to get to. I would definetly stay here again.

great hotel!
Perfect, perfect, perfect. Greatest location. The streetcar that takes you all around downtown portland is only a short walk up 23rd. This Holida Inn is also right by the freeway, so, if you're driving, it's easy to get from one end of the city to the other.
