Cheap-ish..

I got to the hotel an hour after check in and my room wasn't ready. I was able to keep my car parked there for 5 hours after I checked out (at my own risk). It is close, and on a bus line and near a tri-met stop. There are several great parks and cafe`s nearby.

The hotel desk staff were very

The hotel desk staff were very nice and helpful throughout our stay. The floors didn't look to have been vacuumed for the entire stay. Our beds were never made and the extent of any room support was that towels were changed daily with occasional soap and shampoo packets. One morning we woke around 6 am and were going to leave for coffee. the main door from the rooms into the lobby was locked, raising questions about safety if there was a fire. While the location and price were GREAT everything else (other than the nice desk staff) was terrible. While we may be back to Portland in the future, in spite of the low cost we will NOT be staying at the Downtown Value Inn Portland.

Great location, horrible hotel

The Value Inn in downtown Portland reminds me of a crackhouse from the movies. The location is great, situated near PSU and just a couple of blocks from the heart of downtown. The hotel itself was terrible. The accomadations were way overpriced for what I received. The room had all the standard amenities, but they were all way passed their prime. The nightstand had about 100 cigarette burns from people letting their cigarettes burn out. The carpet was tore up and their were burns in that as well. The beds were somewhat comfortable, however I was scared to sleep under the sheets and the bed frames did not match. The door to the bathroom had chips in it and the front door had duck tape holding the locking mechanism in place.

Should be condemned

This hotel was atrocious! Cigarette burns on the night stand and blankets (in a non-smoking room). Long black hairs in the clean shower, and to top it off, fecal matter still in the toilet. There wasn't a deadbolt for the door, just a small and inneffective looking lock... not even a chain! I felt unsafe in this hotel and left without even sitting down. Location was good. If you value cleanliness, safety, or service, steer clear of the Downtown Value Inn.
