Great Location! Should have mentioned that parking was valet only and quite expensive ($30 a day) Staff was helpful but ... unknowledgeable about local area eateries. Did not even suggest that we could get what we were looking for in their own establishment. Room had shower only no bath tub. Left card out to have room "made" but it never was. Took at least 15 minutes to get car from valet.

Don't rely on hotel staff for recommendations. Just get out and walk.....there are great places everywhere.

Public Transportation Girl Oct 14, 2009
I was in Portland to attend a wedding reception for a college friend that had just gotten married. I took the train from ... Seattle to Portland and so was looking for somewhere I could find from the train station, and also somewhere where I could easily access public transportation. This hotel filled those needs as well as being available. Very nice room, local art featured throughout the hotel, clean, relatively quiet, free computer usage, fireplace out in lobby, etc. Restaurant attached, The Original, was the type of place I'd like to open. I found the majority of the staff to be friendly and helpful. My only beef was with the woman that checked me out, I was supposed to recieve a voucher for $25, it was in my paperwork. She said I was not eligible due to the fact that I had not booked directly. I left my luggage and returned later. I asked another staff member when I picked up my bag and she corrected the situation and gave me a voucher. Perhaps the first woman misunderstood? Transportation to the area is fantastic. Neighborhood a bit seedy, though its on the edge of that. Near downtown, train station, public transportation, weekend market, Powell's, etc.

Within walking distance of great restaurants (staff recommended). Try Jake's grill. The room got somewhat stuffy because we ... couldn't open the windows. This hotel was impressively environmentally aware. Beds were comfortable and the room was very clean with original art! There is even a place card near the elevators speaking about the art. It was so nice that it wasn't just a cookie cutter room and that the hotel was supporting local artists.

We went over to Portland for a concert at the Roseland, whcich was literally 2 blocks away, so that was perfect. The rooms ... were very clean and nice. The staff was very friendly. My only complaint would be that the parking is $29/day, which wasn't too bad as we only stayed one night, but if it were more than one night, it could really get expensive. Overall, great place to stay.

Portland city lover Sep 1, 2009
Stopped in Portland one Sat. night and chose this hotel because of its near perfect location, walking distance to the ... riverfront, pearl district, cultural district and the real Saturday farmers market. This courtyard had more of a boutique feel..local artwork, interesting decor and rugs. Small king room, but very nicely furnished and comfortable. More than we expected. Valet parking is pricey but very reasonable parking can be found close by. We had a delightful and delicious breakfast at The Original restaurant, located at the hotel, comfort food with panache.
