Great location

We stayed here for a weekend visit with our son, who lives downtown. It was such a convenient location to everything we wanted to see and do. The only drawback is that parking is expensive, but we didn't have to use it, so that wasn't an issue. The most important quality is that the room was quiet and comfortable.

Little Bird restaurant, just around the corner on 6th, is a lovely location with great staff and delicious food - not inexpensive but high quality for a special meal with great tastes.

Overnight getaway

Attended a concert at Moda Center near downtown Portland, Courtyard by Marriott had the perfect location and because of a positive prior experience there it was a no brainer. Located a few blocks from multiple transit options getting around is easy. The room was simple, clean and comfortable, the king bed just right, the bathroom modern and clean. The staff were all friendly and helpful, including valet, though the price to park like many of the downtown Portland hotels is ridiculously expensive. Had both dinner and breakfast at the restaurant on site and again the staff were friendly and the food very good. For overall value this hotel is a very good choice.

Sightseeing tip: Short walk from hotel

The transit train picks up a block away, definitely the easy way to get around to many areas of Portland.

Clean, but not worth the price

Room was very average, one King bed and not very spacious. The mini fridge was loud and the motor made noises throughout the night. The king bed had a sag to it. Bedside clock did not work. For the price per night, my expectations are higher.

Costal Starlight to Portland

I have taken Amtrak two times to Portland. Once via the northern route through Glacier National and this time on the Coast Starlight from LA. (http://www.amtrak.com/coast-starlight-train). Great trips to a great town. The Marriot Portland City Center is right in the middle of the action. Easy walk to all of the downtown attractions such as the Lan Su Chinese Garden right around the corner, Pioneer Courthouse Square and associated shopping, and easy light rail and bus to Portland Japanese Garden, and dinner at places like Andina's in the Pearl district. Great location and value.

Very helpful Staff

The best thing about this hotel was the friendly, helpful staff. It was pretty average as far as room/comfort. The bathroom had no ventilation fan which is a pet peeve of mine. There was also little natural light because the window was very small. The gym was very good. It's location in downtown Portland was absolutely ideal, if you don't have a car. If you do, its $32/night for valet parking at the hotel which I think is very pricey. I also enjoyed the restaurant attached to the hotel. Very good food and friendly staff.
